Description of this holiday apartment

An elegant, renovated, artist's atelier on the top floor of one of Paris' most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings is the luxury equivalent of that romantic garret you've always dreamed of.
It's polished wood floors, six meter high ceilings, glassed-in roof, and plant-filled terrace overlooking the chimney tops of Paris, makes it the perfect romantic aerie. Located a block away from the rue Cler, one of Paris's most celebrated open-air food markets, and the Champ de Mars park, home to the Eiffel tower.

"When I bought this place more than 20 years ago, everyone thought that I was crazy, "This place is unlivable", some said. But I had a vision, and this vision became a reality. It was a lot of work, but it was worth every moment — and penny — of it. Walid and I lived there for seven glorious years."

Ideal for two people, the comfortable couch on the main floor also opens up to sleep two. On the mezzanine level is the bedroom area with lots of closet space and an office nook; downstairs is the living/dining room, a beautiful travertine marble bathroom, as well as a fully equipped, eat-in kitchen. Windows in all the rooms, along with the apartment’s "verrière" (skylight) insure that the apartment is wonderfully light-filled, with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower, especially at night, while the AC unit will freshen up your stay during the hot Parisian Summers.

Nearby attractions

the 7th arrondissement is one of the 20 arrondissements of Paris. It is bordered by the Seine River on the north, and it is located on the Left Bank. For the most part, this arrondissement comprises expensive residential neighborhoods and official buildings (ministries etc....). Important places include: The French National Assembly, the Eiffel Tower, the Champ de Mars, École Militaire, the Invalides, all of which are within short walking distance from this apartment. Also, within walking distance, you'll find the Quai de Branly, Quai d'Orsay and Rodin museums. Immediate vicinity * Rue Cler market street: Although the Breteuil open air market on the avenue de Saxe, with its amazing view of the Eiffel Tower, and only a few minutes away from this apartment, is probably best suited for fresh produce shopping (open Thursdays and Saturdays until 1pm), the market on rue Cler (only a block away, open daily, except Monday), a cobbled pedestrian street lined with its chic shops and cafés, is definitely the more animated one. If you wish to learn the fine art of living Parisian-style, Rue Cler provides an excellent classroom (by Rick Steves, "Rue Cler: The Art of Parisian Living"). * The Champ de Mars park, and the Eiffel Tower: a great place to relax or organize a picnic with family and friends, or for jogging. * The American University of Paris; The Ecole Militaire; * Closest Metro station: Ecole Militaire Closest Bus lanes: 80; 92; 28; 82; 69

Reviews for this holiday apartment

If you're looking for the perfect Parisian apartment for your stay, this is it! Located in the best part of the 7th, just a few steps from the door you'll find everything you need: one of the most active and characteristic places in Paris for food shopping- still many small specialty shops; the major metro and bus lines, post office, good cafes and restaurants... you name it, it's close by. And in a few minutes' walk you're at the Seine or standing under the Eiffel Tower. And your apartment is in one of the most beautiful historic Art Nouveau buildings. An elevator takes you to the top floor, and you enter a beautiful, spacious duplex space, full of light (that classic Parisian glass roof!), very quiet (it faces an inner courtyard), and so unique- imagine lying in bed with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Or having your morning coffee in the sun on the little terrace off the living room. Walid has thought of everything for your comfort and is very helpful with anything you need advice with for your stay - you can walk in and immediately feel at home. You won't find better than this!

Ernest Hemingway said "Paris is a moveable feast". This exemplifies beautifully my experience in Paris living at 33, rue du Champs de Mars. It was more than a wonderful time: it was a true dream. The apt is filled with light and air. One feels like living in a stork’s nest on top of one of the most beautiful buildings in Paris. Everything from the location to the modern conveniences to the wonderfully helpful concierge was beyond my expectations. I loved the apt so much that I stayed there for almost a year!
And what can I say about the view? Waking up every morning to be able to almost touch the Eiffel Tower was heaven. From the bed, one is able to gaze for hours at one of Paris' most famous monuments. Every hour on the hour, the Eiffel Tower does its own fancy show of sparkling lights which fills the apt with so much atmosphere that one feels that this show ( I playfully nicknamed it, "The Coco Chanel Dance!") is performed specifically for them! The view, the light, is honestly unbelievable.... something I'll never forget and something all of my friends and family ( esp. my mother!) will never forget and talk about all the time. This experience still remains for me, and those who visited me one of the highlights of my living in Europe.
The location is fantastic. In the middle of the famous seventh arrondissement, one has everything at their fingertips. The park Champs de Mars is right across the street. One of the best known local shopping street, rue Cler, is also right there with everything the city dweller needs: dry cleaning, several grocery stores, fresh butchers and cheese shops, FAB restaurants ( one of the freshest take-away sushis in Paris) and bistros (Café de Marché -- a must!), subway stations, many monuments (Ecole Militaire, Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, The river Seine etc.), and loads of smaller shops offering everything from clothing and shoes to household items. On my days off from work, there was so much to do in my neighborhood that I never left the area!
The facade of the building is a national historic landmark, which has one of the best examples of French Art Nouveau in Paris. And don't forget to check out the Dépôt/Vente aution house around the corner, where citizens bring their private collections to be auctioned off.... sometimes one can find that special treasure at a steal! The terrace gives one a different view: the rooftops of Paris create the feeling of Paris in the fifties.
All in All, I wish I could be transferred back to Paris so I could live there again.. I often long for the beauty and serenity of this great place. Again, if you want to experience Ernest Hemingway's Paris this apt is perfect!

We have rented the loft and tried to rent it again but our dates did not mesh due to repairs that had to be done. We did in fact rent it for a month and really loved it. The kitchen is very well equipped and the view when you go to sleep or wake up is unbelievable. We love the neighborhood. It is close to the bus lines and not far from the metro. Rue Cler is a stone’s throw away and we always love the market on the Avenue Saxe on Thursday and Saturday mornings. It is essentially across the street from one of the best upscale Italian restaurants in Paris called La Taverna -- great veal and risottos. The apartment is located on the courtyard and is very quiet. We have stayed in other apartments and can truthfully say that the entire building is better kept than others we have stayed in. We had no problems at all and had a wonderful stay. Walid checked with us periodically to see that all was going well. We have been going to France and Paris since 1994 twice a year and I think the 7th is our favorite neighborhood. We have tried other Arrondissements and keep going back to the 7th. There are many wonderful restaurants to enjoy without venturing far in the evening and there is an internet cafe on rue Exposition if you need to email home and don't want to be bothered with carrying a laptop.
