Explore Paris 2 – Bourse
La Bourse in the 2nd Arrondissement is an ideal location for a sightseeing holiday in Paris, being north of the Louvre and east of the Opera. The Bourse is a fine colonnaded building with a long history. You can get around the capital with ease from here, being within walking distance of the shopping Boulevards Haussmann and La Fayette and the famous Folies Bergere. Nearby, the Opera is a popular meeting place and a useful hub for Metro connections. The semi-residential streets of the area are packed with small hotels and apartments, meaning there is a wide choice of places to stay in the 2eme Arrondissement.
Experience Paris 2 - Bourse like a local
As you are in the heart of working Paris here, have a lie in and avoid taking the Metro or navigating the busy streets during rush hours. There are plenty of pavement cafes around to give you gentle kick-start, and then choose a different direction to explore each day. Do buy a book of Metro tickets to cover your stay; the cross-Paris connections are excellent so it makes sense to make the most of them. Just south of the Bourse is the Jardin du Palais Royal, perfect for a picnic and starting a walk to the Louvre and further down to the north bank of the Seine. Although you are at the bottom of the Boulevard Montmartre, don't be tempted to walk right up to the Sacre Coeur - it's quite a hike. Take public transport instead to Paris' famous artistic quarter. Near the Folie Bergere to your north is the Chartier restaurant which has been serving the cabaret crowd since the Fin de Siecle of the 1890s, still offering traditional food and service at fairly reasonable prices.
