Experience Paris 16 - Passy like a local
This part of the Left Bank is also known as the Trocadero district, after the area around the Eiffel Tower. There are always crowds at the Tower, locals recommend you either go early in the morning (on a day with good visibility), or at dusk to watch the lights come over the city. If you want to go to the Bois de Boulogne, do go by day. This huge park is bordered by grand houses and is a perfect picnic spot, but after-dark there is a flourishing, dangerous red light district. Another lovely picnic spot is the Jardins du Ranelagh, one of the favourite gardens of Marie Antoinette. There's a lot of old-fashioned entertainment for children in his historic park including a puppet theatre and donkey rides. Near here you come to the Musée Marmottan which features some of Monet's most famous works, including Waterlilies. There are more galleries around Palais Tokyo, also the setting for colourful markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Avenue President Wilson has some good local restaurants, less touristy than those close to the Eiffel Tower.
