It certainly compensates with the pedestrianised street, Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, which is a foodie's heaven. Award-winning outdoor restaurants line this street, including Gambrinus, Solar dos Presuntos and Bom Jardim: Perfect for a romantic meal out. Officially called Jardim Braamcamp Freire, the large park dominating the area is known to the locals as Campo dos Mártires da PátriaIt, it's fabulous for relaxing in and entertaining children with its play area, sports pavilion and lake. While you're here you will enjoy fantastic views over the city and once you've got downhill you can easily get around the city by foot, train or bus.
