About this property

Do you wish to get back to the 60`s? Here is your chance, grab it with both hands and experience Amsterdam the hippy way!

This wonderful houseboat is situated only 15 minutes from the centre and even less (7 minutes) from Schiphol Airport. Across the house you have a large green area where you can walk and enjoy the silence before the storm; Amsterdam. Also, only two hundred meteres from your porch you will find your own private beach! For a super cheap price you can rent a small boat and have a nice ride on the very same lake. This lake and the canal where the houseboat is situated is directly connected to the canals within the centre of Amsterdam. So if you are proficient with small boats you can even go to the centre of Amsterdam by yourself.

The houseboat itself is quite unique. It has been a safe haven for many aritsts, dj`s, writers, poets and other creative people of Amsterdam and outside of Amsterdam. In fact the landlord (who stays in one of the rooms of the houseboat) is as original 'Amsterdam guy' as you can get. He knows all the ins and outs of Amsterdam and is a lovely guy in general. He will definately help you out with everything you need!

So what about the fascilities for the 'modern man'? On the boat there is a television with insane hifi installation. Also there is a big kitchen, a shower and a spacious bathtub, a grand living room to chill in and ofcourse a wifi. Soon (probably in august) there will be also a sauna and a sun tanning room, its own bar and many more.

So if you are going to the houseboat make sure you are ready for an experience you will not forget so soon!

Before booking this accommodation I looked at a couple of the previous reviews. The common theme from them was that this would be an Amsterdam experience with a difference and one I would never forget. Oh how right they were!!! Carlo's hospitality is amazing and will live long in my memory

We could not use the hole apartment. Because there were always people (neighbors) in our sitting room. It wasn't that clean we expect but it was big and we could do what ever we wanna to do there.

Overall the experience was good and very different from any other iv had in Amsterdam! The people who lived there were nice and welcoming although thought it strange that the door was open the whole of our stay and we were not given a key! The place was suitable for our hen do and quirky althought could have been cleaner since you pay an addition €70 for cleaning ontop of the money we payed! Would like to go back in the summer to see the area around the accomidation!

This was our first trip to amsterdam and Carlo made sure that it was an amazing stay. the house itself was awesome and theres was more than enough room for our farely large group to stay. Carlo knew everything there was to know about A-Dam and filled us in on all the best parts of the city. we will definately be staying here again for our next trip.

What a fantastic experience and one never likely to be repeated...I don't imagine we will ever forget our time with Carlo on the houseboat. Carlo is a wonderful host and went out of his way to make us feel at home and provide us with everything we needed to have a great trip. If you have stayed in Amsterdam before and you want something out of the ordinary...try this, you wont regret it! Jons
