This winery was founded in 1930, saved from deluge when the Ermal reservoir was formed. It was rebuilt stone for stone on the current location, at an elevation of 450 metres. It has 5 hectares of grounds with mixed forests, orchards, a vineyard and the garden with both sunny and shady seating areas. The current owners have improved the level of finish, but the authentic elements have been retained, as has part of the antique farmhouse furniture.
Facing east there is a giant veranda with more dining tables and benches. In the morning you can take breakfast there in the morning sun, and spend the rest of the day sitting in the shade enjoying the view. Even the higher peaks of the Serra do Gerês are visible from here, and the entire range of the Serra da Cabreira. On the west side, over the entire length of the holiday home there is a conservatory which looks out over the garden. Here there is a large collection of (Dutch language) books and DVDs.
In the garden there is a large swimming pool, but with no shallow end for kids! There are various springs on the rest of the property, so make sure that your children do not fall in. Part of the grassy fields are grazed by a friendly horse, which is cared for by the neighbours.
