Oak Beam Cottage

Charming Grade II listed cottage in the heart of picturesque Hemingford Abbots just 13 miles from the city centre of Cambridge. The cottage consists of 2 bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 3 Adults or a family with 2 children over the age of 8 years. There is a lovely sunny conservatory for the book worms to hibernate in. In the living room there is a delightful little wood burner, giving a magical atmosphere to those winter nights.
The village is well known for its Oldie worldie pub, the Axe & Compass as well as the wonderful hikes and cycling routes along the river banks of the Great Ouse. There is also a great gastro pub -The Cock –which is a lovely 10 minute walk across the meadows. To the other side of the village you can stroll across another meadow, pause at the lock at watch the boats, then through the old flour mill to Houghton. The village has recently got its own little quirky library which is setup in the old telephone booth across the road from the cottage.
The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with most mod cons. All towels and linen are provided. The bathroom contains both a full size bath and an excellent shower. If you are arriving late or just don’t fancy cooking on your first night, a meal can be provided on request. On arrival you will have a basic supply of milk, bread, sugar, tea, coffee and possibly a little surprise or two. The bus stop into Cambridge is outside the front door, or if you are feeling more adventurous why not take a 5 min drive to the park & ride and jump on the guided bus directly into the center of Cambridge. I also have 2 adult bicycles, not top of the range by any means but okay for local peddling about - please request when booking. The cottage is not suitable for small children hence the requirement that they need to be 8 years or older.
