Kournas lake ,is the only freshwater lake of Crete.
It is located at 40 km east of CHANIA and 30 km west of RETHYMNON
a few km next to the national road. It covers a total area of about 160,000 sq. m.Vegetation surrounding the scenic lake and the southeastern bank which is lined with olive trees.
A strip of white sand beside the lake provides an area for swimming, cafes and a few tavernas.
The lake of Kournas is also suitable for canoe and water-cycling.
On the road above the lake more cafes and tavernas with breathtaking views are located.The Longest beach of Crete is at 5 Kms, and the village of GEORGIOUPOLIS at 3kms, where the commercial centre.
The house is located at a very strategic position to make day excursions either to the sea side
and beach or to upper mountain villages like ARGIROUPOLIS , where the water sources from high mountains (2400m) provide all rivers of the aerea.
Driving up the high mountains , the visitor can cross them and find the famous South coast of Crete
at the Libyan sea where are plenty of gorges,traditional villages,beaches.
The houses , although are among few others , they have enough distance from neigbors so tranquility and piece are guarantied .
