Côté du Grel Holiday Cottage - Domme, near Sarlat

Our accommodation has something for everyone, whether looking for a quiet break to relax and take in the sites, or an adventure packed holiday.

Côté du Grel was part of an old, stone farm building, bought as a shell in 1985, housing a tractor, and not much more. The grounds were surrounded by fields and covered in brambles. It was bought by Major Reverend Neil Handley (a vicar from Salford) who transformed the building into an open air BBQ restaurant, which fed upto 200 people per night, every night, throughout the summer months. As the restaurant supplied free wine, free entertainment, jokes, live music, and Neil's big personality, it had a booming trade. Eventually the restaurant closed and part of the building was made into an enchanting holiday cottage. (Sleeps 4 + double sofa bed on request).

Côté du Grel is set in the heart of the most majestic part of the Dordogne, in a quiet off road location, just outside of the hill top Bastille town of Domme, and 15 minutes from the medieval city of Sarlat.

The cottage has a private garden with a sweeping stone staircase leading to a generous balcony with views across the forest covered valley. There is a large swimming pool (shared with Les Hirondelles) with a parasoled seating area, and external power for evening lighting and music.

Enter from the balcony into the large open plan kitchen/dining/living area. The quirky interior incorporates exposed wooden beams and stone chimney breasts, with a clean and cool edge. The wood burning stove makes it a perfect setting for those renting out of season, and the traditional thick stone walls keep it cool in summer and warm in winter.

Take the door off the living area into a charming twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The beds can be pushed together to make a double room if required.

The rustic wooden staircase in the dining area leads to a separate bathroom, and a large, chic master bedroom with ample storage.

The beautiful, high quality kitchen has a cute little window looking out over the courtyard to the pool area. Appliances include oven, grill, hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster.

Free wifi and English satelite TV, table tennis tables, trampolines, swings, BBQ, parasols and sun loungers.
Washing machine available (charged per use).
All rooms have electric fans and heaters.
Bathrooms include toilet, sink and shower.
Baby's cot available on request, no charge.

Nearby activities within 20 mins include canoeing/kayaking, walking, rock climbing, caving, paint balling, hot air balloons, fishing, golf, tennis, high ropes courses and a Via Ferreta (cliff traverse).

The area is stunning, a photographers dream!
The scenic views are breathtaking, and the magnificent architecture documents the area's fascinating history, with a chateau around almost every corner. Nearby attractions include the town of La Roque Gageac built into the cliffs, Castelnaud and Baynac castle which are open to the public, and the beautiful gardens of Marqueysac.
