Situated at the historical center of Santarém, surrounded by important monuments, “The House of the Arch” is itself part of the History of this city. When the owners began the works of restoration, transforming the “old” house into a modern and functional place, they gave prominence to an arch with a considerable size, from the Gothic period, one of the most important in Santarém, a city known as “Capital of the Gothic style”. This finding allows the Guest to feel himself an inhabitant of History.
“The House of the Arch” is a modern loft, well equipped, permitting the guests to enjoy a great stay, having at their disposal the kitchenette, double room and a living room with a sofa-bed, the ideal to receive 2 persons and an extra accommodation using the sofa-bed.

Staying at “The House of the Arch” we have right by the door two emblematic monuments – The Tower of “Cabaças”, also called “Clock Tower” from the 15th century and São João d’Alporão Church from the 12th century, an important example of the Romanic art in the region. Both monuments deserve a visit for their beauty or because of their historical relevance. Further ahead, where the old Castle existed there’s the famous “Garden Portas do Sol” a belvedere from where you can enjoy a fantastic view to the plain of Ribatejo region and to the River Tagus. Not far from “The House of the Arch” are situated two religious monuments that our guest must not miss a visit: Graça Church, an important example of the Gothic art and also Marvila Church with a magnificent interior covered with tiles and considered to be the “Tile’s Cathedral”.
