Città della Pieve is a fascinating mediaeval town overlooking the Val di Chiana in the Italian province of Umbria. Up to 70% of the historic core of the town is built with red brick, a nod to the region's history as a centre for brick production. Of interest in the town are the Torre del Pubblico, whose oldest parts date back over 1000 years, the Pozzo del Casalino, a well dating back to the Roman period, as well as the cathedral of the town, which also contains decorative elements from the early Middle Ages. There are a number of notable events in Città della Pieve throughout the year, most notably the Palio dei Terzieri festival in August with a parade and symbolic bull hunt (not involving a live bull).
