Description

Retiro do Mocho makes part of a traditional Vincentine country house and it corresponds to the place where in the past animals where kept. Nowadays it is adapted to an autonomous structure of our house where we (Albina and Ricardo) live with our three young kids .

It's located in the Southwest of Portugal, inside the "Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina", in the municipality of Aljezur, place where one can still find beautiful almost desert beaches and a environmental richness already rare to be found on the southern coast of Europe.

The house has almost 80 years, the walls are built on rammed earth, a construction technique that gives the house excellent thermal and acustic comfort.

The inside recover happened in 2008 and the project was design by us once Ricardo is an architect.

Inside there is a living/dining room with a kitchenette and a couple/double room, although it is possible to accommodate 4 persons (already including children). For more than 2 persons we have one more couple bed installed on a small mezzanine that is opened to the main room.

In the main room there's a table for having meals and a small living area. In addition to a restful night, with the sound of the sea in the background, there are some books and DVDs available, ideal for the Winter nights. There is no antenna signal. There is a small television that serves only to watch DVDs.

In Winter the heating is done by wood stove but all the space also features underfloor heating.

The bedroom has two single beds that can be converted into a comfortable double bed. But if you feel comfortable with that, you can sleep in mezzanine. Although quite pleasant, the mezzanine space was designed only to sleep or rest, as it is not possible to be standing.

The bathroom has a comfortable shower and is equipped with a hairdryer and heating on the floor.

In the kitchenette you can count on the essentials to prepare a meal: electric hotplate, fridge, dishwasher and other small appliances.

The terrace is perfect to relax, get lost in the horizon, enjoy the numerous birds that reside here and by here pass on their migratory routes.

Our goal is to make you feel really at home, so we will be happy provide you with utensils or facilities that we have available in our House, including equipment for babies.

How do damage deposits work?
