Description from owner

Description

We provide comfortable camping, just for grown-ups, in a spacious five metre diameter bell tent, with a couple of deckchairs close by to soak up the sun, surrounded by wildflowers and bookended by old oak trees in ICNF-protected woodland. There's a double bed inside and all the convenience you would expect in a hotel room - but under canvas. Set in the slowly-beating heart of Central Portugal in idyllic surroundings, in the tiny village of Moita Negra (look for Mouta Negra on Google Maps). Perfect for couples, but if you're a solo traveller or travelling with a friend, you can always rent the Strawberry Tree Tent (Tenda de Medronho), which can house up to two single beds. Or you can even hire another couple of tents if there are more of you. We are surrounded by natural woodland - a perfect place to get away from the pressures of urban life. 20 minutes walk away through the forest are two café bars in Poço dos Caés - Domingo & Domingues and Cafe Moço, with a warm welcome to all new customers. There are are two windmills a short distance from us - one in Moita Negra itself and one in Melriça - that are easily accessible on foot and command spectacular views of the countryside that surrounds us.

Getting around

Because we are in quite a rural area, car rental is recommended. There is very little traffic - mostly tractors! Mouta Negra is a very small village - only about twelve houses here, and everyone (apart from us) is Portuguese.
