IMPORTANT NOTICE to our WINTER guests: The main floor w/ 2 bedrooms has central heat. The second floor which is the large bedroom with 3 beds (queen and twins) does not have central heat. The room is heated with a space heater. It stays warm if door left open. It is very private even if door is open.

Water's Edge Retreat is located in the Boothbay Harbor/Midcoast region of Maine on desirable Westport Island. Enjoy your own private waterfront cottage nestled in the woods with beautiful water views from nearly every room! Perfect for a romantic getaway, couples traveling together, and family vacations. With the cottage's 3 separate bedrooms and 3 private bathrooms as well as the many private and common areas it is perfect for multiple families and couples traveling together.

We also offer on-site kayak rentals for less than 1/2 what it would cost to have them delivered from a local rental company. Our inventory includes tandems, singles, and anglers. Advance reservations preferred. Inquire for details.

The six Adirondack chairs are perched at water's edge and surround a new stone fire pit. It's the perfect spot for morning coffee or an afternoon beverage. The private dock with mooring is great for kayaking and boating on the Sheepscot and Back Rivers (rentals available on site). Enjoy the serenity of watching working lobster boats, bald eagles, low-flying osprey, harbor seals on the incredible Sheepscot River. Play yard/board games or just relax on the deck, screen porch, & hammock. You will enjoy a very private 1st floor Captain's Quarters-Master Bedroom w/ a high quality king bed, private bath w/ newer stall shower, flat screen TV, and serene water views. The First Mate's private suite on the 1st floor is at the opposite end of cottage and has been recently remodeled in a Maine sea glass decor. It features a queen bed, private newly remodeled full bath, flat screen TV, and custom made built-in bookshelves stocked with a variety of good reads. The Crew's Quarters encompasses the entire second floor and features a large room with one queen bed, two twin beds, private full bath, Flat screen TV, small balcony and is decorated in a nautical theme. The family room has a comfortable sectional sofa, chair with ottoman, flat screen TV, DVD, and surround water views. The large dining room is ample for all guests to enjoy a meal and leads to the wrap around deck also with beautiful water views. On the deck is a new polywood dining set with seating for 6 and has an umbrella for sunny days. The kitchen is nicely appointed with a gas oven, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, two lobster pots, two coffee makers (Keurig and 10-cup Mr. Coffee), blender, nice pots and pans, wine glasses, lobster platters and more. There is an additional breakfast table for 4, screen porch facing the water, a flexible duo Charbroil gas/charcoal BBQ (propane provided but guests provide their own charcoal). We provide HDTV cable with TVs in the family room, master bedroom and the first mate suite. The entire property has high speed wireless Internet. For our early and late season guest rentals the cottage has central heat and high quality Andersen windows so if it's chilly outside it's toasty warm inside. Especially perfect for Thanksgiving holiday getaways.Easy access on and off the island by bridge. The cottage is not too far down the island so only a few minutes off and on and the perfect location for exploring the Midcoast area from Freeport to Boothbay to Camden and beyond.Relax from the moment you arrive: unlike many rentals, our cottage rental comes with professional arrival and departure day cleaning service, two propane tanks for the gas BBQ grill so you never run out. We also supply a 'starter package' of paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap, and more. Newer linens for bed and bath, down comforters, beach chairs and towels, coolers, picnic basket, wine glasses, cork screw, lobster pot steamer and crackers, blender, quality pots and pans, numerous books, indoor and outdoor games and puzzles---virtually everything you need for a wonderful vacation.

How do damage deposits work?
