Description

The Mermaid's Muse is located on a cliff overlooking the ocean.The Mermaid Suite has a four poster Queen size bed, a separate living room with a queen size convertible sofa bed . The two sleeping areas can be divided with heavy sliding curtain. The attached full bath has shower and tub. Just steps from your room is your private hot tub and private deck area. Upstairs is our second rental area, the Captains Quarters. A wonderful King size bed awaits along with your incredible view. A very large full size bathroom with walk in shower/ Roman tub is yours, along with comfortable sofa, lounge chair and cozy table for two inside and another outside on your deck. Your personal hot tub is a little further to get to, but the dramatic view and proximity to the ocean makes it well worth it. Both rental areas looks out across one of the best views on the Oregon coast, including endless ocean horizon with dramatic rock outcroppings (with sea lions, pelicans, and the occasional mermaid lounging on them), fishing boats coming and going from the Chetco River, mountains with clouds snaking over their ridges. You can enjoy this setting from bed or your private deck or the hot tub (bathing suits optional) with an unobstructed view! Or lounge in our spacious common front room and share a glass of wine with us in front of the fireplace. The Naughty Mermaid Bar iupstairs is always well stocked and available to our guests as is the large screen TV viewing area and exercise equipment.

Within walking distance are several excellent restaurants and downtown Brookings. The house is just 5 miles north of the California border, so very convenient to both Oregon and Northern California,approximately half way between San Francisco (350 miles south) and Portland (325 miles north). We are just 15 miles to the nearest state redwood parks. We have hiking maps available going from easy and short to difficult and solitary. There is also a beautiful golf course 5 miles up the Chetco River and we have clubs which you can borrow. Whether you are interested in the giant redwood trees or combining that with ocean and river vistas, we feel assured you will find the area very enchanting and unique.

Getting around

We can tell you about a path 5 miles up the Chetco River with Redwood trees, ferns and a water fall right at the beginning of a 2 mile loop. We think it’s the best hike in Oregon and chances are you will find nobody else there!

Interaction with guest

We always have an open bar Happy Hour from around 5 PM until 7ish. It’s usually a lot of fun either sitting in the Living Room or around The Naughty Mermaid Bar upstairs. Our guests are free to help themselves to a glass of wine or a mixed drink if you’d like. Anytime you feel like not being social, that is fine too, including taking a drink to your room.

How do damage deposits work?
