You're sitting in traffic after another long day of work. If you're craving a relaxing retreat we are offering you a chance to enjoy the beautiful outdoors that nature has provided around our cottage. What more could you ask for than a relaxing week on this pristine river paradise in a luxurious newly renovated cabana. Take some time to enjoy amazing fishing, swimming off the shore of the river or at the beach nearby, or canoeing, kayaking, playing badminton, or just sunbathing. Now, let us walk you through a week of relaxation at the Saugeen River Retreat!

After a beautiful drive through the Canadian countryside (220 km from downtown Toronto), you pull into the long, secluded and private downhill driveway at 361 Ranking Street North, Saugeen Shores. As you open the car door take a deep breath! The air is fresh, ionized, pure and clean. Looked over the winding river and see the mist playing with waves. The cottage is south facing. The sun hugs it all day long. The canopy of trees protects it from the summer heat. Do not take your belongings out of the car yet. Check the fridge in the big cottage. There are cold, refreshing drinks waiting for you there. Enjoy one and go for a walk around the property. We have more than 4 acres of paradise. Walk down the stairs to the river and touch the water. The property has almost 800 feet of shore line. Feel the wind. Touch the well manicured grass. Admire the apple trees behind you as you face the river. Look to the left and then to the right. There is only one visible neighbour on the other side of the river almost half a mile away. This is privacy! Watch your step: there is a fire pit just to the right and above the river bank. Yes the fire wood beside it is yours to enjoy for the bone fires on the cool evenings. The wood is complimentary! Then check the cottage: Enter the main glass door into the large living room. You will be "blown away" with the WOW factor when you look out through the full wall of windows to the river. The living room wall across the windows is covered with mirrors. Everybody in the room can admire the 800ft of serine river bend in front of the cottage from any angle. Please notice the comfortable leather couches, the arm chairs and the electric fireplace. Everybody can watch the large flat TV and use the free internet. Look at the natural wood ceiling. Feel the warmth! The kitchen is full renovated, clean and equipped with everything you may need. Open the door to the solarium. It has a large lazy boy, 3 person, leather couch and a futon (queen size) you can relax on for your siesta. There is a dining table with chairs if you wish to eat inside. The floors are covered with white natural stone in the kitchen and sunroom. Check the bathroom: it is fully renovated with a new cylindrical glass shower enclosure featuring colored ceiling lights and music if you desire. The large bedroom features a comfortable queen bed and a twin bed. There is a small desk and a chair for your computer. On the side there is a three person couch for your quiet time if it rains. There is a small flat TV for your entertainment. The second bedroom has one bunk bed and a twin. There is a TV for the kids in there also. Outside the solarium there is a large triple barbeque (propane/charcoal/wood/smoker) you can use. There is free wood cut for the barbeque beside it. When was the last time you barbequed on wood coal? Bring your own charcoal if you wish so. Now gather your belongings and store them on the existing clothing racks. Go out again thru the solarium now. Take a look at the river from our large deck. Sit on one of the comfortable chairs. Have dinner with your family here, by the river, if you like. Walk on the winding wooden pathway from the cottage to the large and exquisite river house. This is a well appointed 240 sq feet room with a kitchenette and a bathroom. It is fully insulated. It is quiet and secluded from the main cottage. Sit on the deck and watch the river. Or even better sit on the rattan love couch on the hill and let your eyes glide over the panoramic views. You can't help but feel tiny as your eyes take in the breathtaking view of this ecological paradise. Yes you can connect with the free internet from here too. All rooms have ceiling fans. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If RICK (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
