Skinner's House is located along the Southwest Shore of Newfoundland in the beautiful outport of Burgeo, famous for it's amazing white sand beaches and the archipelago of 365 islands. The area boasts excellent walking trails, vast wilderness, unique kayaking and fishing. Burgeo is the hub for the Ramea, Grey River and Francois Ferry's.

Owner's reply: Sue, Thank you for staying with us at Skinner's House is picturesque Burgeo! I'm so glad you enjoyed architecture and design or our fully-restored salt box home; it is truly a labour of love to bring homes like this back to life. We are also happy you found the accommodations clean, stylish and well-stocked. I am very happy you brought to our attention the strong smell of paint; as the house hasn't been painted since the spring, it's certainly a mystery that we need to investigate seriously. We definitely understand scent and allergy sensitive guests, and make it a mission to ensure houses are meticulously cleaned. I'm delighted that our maintenance supervisor was able to assist you in opening the wooden windows; as they are done in the original style, the wood does not always love to cooperate on hot days. I do apologize that he did not think to show you how to work the screens; they too are old fashioned slip-in screens, and we should consider that their use may not be easy for all! As for the cost of staying with us, I truly believe that we are very comparable to other accommodations in Burgeo. As a house with two bedrooms (king/king) and accommodations for four, we're proud of the service we provide and the level of history and design that exists in our home, but we make sure to keep our prices reasonably competitive with others in the community. Our internet too is comparable to all other services offered in Burgeo. Additionally, I want to assure you that the house was all yours for the night; there is a small unit attached to Skinner's for storage of both our supplies and guest luggage (should they arrive early or leave late from the community.) Burgeo is such a fantastic, picturesque town, with so many exciting adventure options in other communities close by. We would hate to rush anyone away! I'm so glad you enjoyed your night there, and hope you got out and enjoyed as much of the community as possible! Warmly, Amanda

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Janet (the owner) a message.

If Janet (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
