Antiga Adega is a restored three bedroom detached house in the centre of a typical Portuguese village.The village has all the basic amenities within walking distance - bars, mini market, - and even a bread van and fresh fish van which comes daily to sell their wares.

The house is on 2 floors with bedrooms both upstairs and downstairs, along with a bathroom on each floor. All the traditional features have been kept in the main house, these include exposed stone walls and wooden beamed ceilings, giving a cosy homely feel to the property. The "winery" part of the property has been fully restored to become an integrated part of the house, and benefits from a double sofa bed, and is used as a games room (with a pool table, football table and air jet hockey table) but can double up as an additional bedroom if required.

The property now benefits from WiFi accessibility.

The large (500m2) rear garden is totally private and secluded making it an ideal place to relax and soak up the sun, read a book, or just enjoy a glass of wine and a barbeque on the covered terrace. The garden has a swimming pool for sole use of the guests.

Despite being slightly inland, the main city of Caldas da Rainha is only 10 minutes away and the many beautiful beaches are only a 15-20 min away. The motorways are also easily accessible which make visiting ALL of the many attractions easy.

“Fantastic two weeks!”

We had an amazing time staying here. It was just the kind of break we were looking for. We had everything we needed and wanted. The kids had a blast jumping into the pool everyday and playing in the game room. With fantastic beaches just 30 minutes drive away we had the best of both worlds. Thank you Mick and Jane for being a fantastic host. Thank you so much for the welcome pack especially the lovely bottles of red and white. All the very best. Liz, Marc and the boys

Owner's reply: It is always disappointing to hear a guest has not enjoyed their stay, especially when we live in the adjacent property and had asked the guests to let us know if they had any problems, yet we didn't hear a thing from them. The windows all have coverings of either curtains or shutters as can be seen in the property photos. We listed the house as having an unheated pool and cannot be held responsible for the weather. The stairs are a little steep but this is an old Portuguese house and you were advised to take care when we welcomed you to the property. We also feel that as we provide a dvd and a games room, plus board games, again as listed on the property details, it is unfair to be held responsible for your children's entertainment. At no point were we made aware of no wifi in the house and this would have been addressed had we known. Once again we stress that we are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay but a little communication would have helped.

Owner's reply: We're sorry that you felt the property was damp, it isn't but you did experience quite poor weather which was very humid. As an old Portuguese house you will always expect a mild smell from the exposed stone and wood beams, floors and ceilings this is quite normal. As you arrived at the house early we were still drying towels and bedding from the previous guests it is for this reason that we ask guests not to arrive before 15.00 As for crockery, there is sufficient for 12 place settings and there is a dishwasher available for your use. As your part was 6 people tgere should not have been any issues We did point out that we live in the adjacent property and asked you to let us know if you had any problems, as we didn't hear anything from you we could only assume that everything was fine.

Owner's reply: Desafortunadamente al estar en un área rural no tenemos wifi 4G y alguien había movido el amplificador de recepción al otro lado de la casa. Mantendremos un control sobre esto para el futuro. Nos complace que haya disfrutado de su estadía y esperamos que regrese en el futuro.

How do damage deposits work?

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Jane and Mick (the owner) a message.

If Jane and Mick (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
