Welcome to our waterfront home, located on the banks of the Mississippi River, Carleton Place, Ontario. Your private room is nestled within our home.

We are situated in a quiet neighborhood and are perfectly placed to explore downtown Carleton Place -- within walking distance. (See more details below.)

Whether you are traveling for leisure or for business or simply desire a comfortable, clean and quiet accommodations, our home is suitable for you. Strictly for non-smokers/non-vapers please.

Your Space

Your own room and your own bathroom. For your comfort, the room is furnished with a queen bed, a desk, two chairs, a dresser, and has a closet. Size is 13'4" x 9'8" (incl closet), and is on the second floor of our split-level home. The bathroom, beside your room, is equipped with a bath, shower, and a hand-held shower head.

Enjoy complimentary beverage around the clock. Whether you are a coffee lover, a tea lover, or a water lover, help yourself to any of these at anytime of the day.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the living room, dining room, kitchen, eating area, and the yards. (Please do not pick the flowers.) The other 2 bedrooms, powder room, den, garage and basement are our family’s private space. You are welcome to cook your own meals. Kindly clean up after yourself.

Enjoy our beautiful backyard. It has direct access to the Mississippi River.* Relax in the patio or on the deck. Let the soothing sound of the river inspire you, or bring your laptop out and get some deep work done while enjoying the beautiful river view. (Your room comes with a street view.)

*The river behind our property is fast rapids, so for your safety, it is only suitable for viewing, and not for swimming or canoeing. To swim or canoe, access the river from “the beach” which is a few minutes’ drive away.

The Neighborhood

This year Carleton Place celebrates her 200th Anniversary! Come and explore the town!

Within walking distance from our home is main street, downtown. Here you can find a Tourist Information Centre, cafes (coffee, pastry, sandwiches), restaurants (Chinese, Indian, Thai, Western, and a Steak house) and a grocery store. A few minutes’ drive away are the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum, the Roy Brown Museum and Information Centre, the Town Hall, the Chamber of Commerce, Parrot Partners Canada, the Canoe Club, the Mississippi Riverwalk Trail (for a leisure stroll along the river), and the District and Memorial Hospital.

If you like

Walking -- Carleton Place is a pedestrian-friendly town. You can take a "Self-Guided Walking Tour of Carleton Place" which will take you through historic buildings and sites in downtown and surroundings. A brochure is available in your room which gives details of this walking tour.

Another scenic walk is the Mississippi Riverwalk Trail. This trail takes you along part of the Mississippi River in Carleton Place.

Light water activity -- If you are interested in canoeing or simply wading in the waters of the Mississippi River, we recommend visiting the Riverside Park Beach. It's called "beach" but it is not Hawaii or Bali. Just a small beach where you can wade in or swim. And right beside it is the Canoe Club, as well as the Boat Launch area for those who have boats.

A combination of the above -- by bicycle. Cycling will enable you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the river and the many parks in Carleton Place, as well as to stop by at any of the historic buildings, if any interests you. You can also park your bike on Bridge St (our Main street) and have lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants there.

You may rent bikes from us -- $5 per day (or part thereof) per bike and helmet.

History -- visit the the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum, the Roy Brown Museum, or take the Self-Guided Walking Tour.

Animals -- visit the Parrot Partners Canada, the neighborhood dog parks.

Food -- many restaurants offering cafes (coffee, pastry, sandwiches), Chinese, Indian, Thai, Western cuisines, and a Steak house.

Getting around

Our home is a 45-minute drive from downtown Ottawa, a 45-min drive from Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW), a 25-min drive from Smiths Falls Union (train) station, and a few minutes’ drive from the Carleton Place Arena (for those who wish to take bus transport).

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Anne (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
