Description

Newly renovated, ground level, 600 sq ft space, with in-suite laundry & soaker tub. Access to hot tub, cool pool, heated outdoor shower, bikes, BBQ, firepit, & hammock in backyard. We are minutes from the beach, public transit, biking trails & ski slopes, and 20 mins from Vancouver.

The suite is nice and cool in the hot summer months, however there is an AC if you wish to use it and there is a heat thermostat you control in the colder winter months.

The ceilings are high and the room is open & spacious as this was once my photography studio.

We (Dave and I), live on the property along with a very friendly small maltese dog named Rossko, who might come say hi to you in the back yard.

There are 2 beds available. One is a queen size bed with a pillow topper. The other is a double size ikea sofa bed, (which works best for two kids or one large adult. )

I have put a small cooler, a back pack, umbrella, and a beach bag in the room for you to use.

The washroom has a large soaker tub, sink, heated toilet / bidet.

There is also a washer & dryer in your suite for your convenience.

Kitchen: There is a full size fridge, full size gas stove /oven, a full size barbecue, a dishwasher, a microwave, kettle, toaster, blender, crockpot and a coffee maker. Coffee, tea and cream, and sugar are all included.

There are dishes & cutlery as well as condiments and spices in the suite for you.

This rental is for the studio space and does not include us cooking you meals.

We will often bring down a snack platter of fresh baking though, if we are making some for ourselves.

In your fridge are some basic condiments that you are welcome to use. It is there for you. There us usually some canned salmon left in the suite for you, which I get from my fisherman friend.

There is a 40 inch flat screen TV and Netflix.

There is also a bluetooth stereo for your favorite playlist

There is an assortment of reading material in your suite to borrow including National Geographic, beautiful British Columbia Magazine, travel books, and an assortment of magazines and novels. You are welcome to leave a novel you have read and take one you have not read.

The studio doubles as a photography studio when I do shoot, so there are studio lights mounted on the ceiling 13 feet up. These are not accessible to guests staying in the suite and are up out of the way.

My studio name is Eclipse Photography and can be found online.

You have a private garden entrance to your suite thru double french doors and a coded non-key entrance.

The space is detached, quiet and secluded from the rest of the building.

If you are interested in power boating or sailing I have friends with boats that will take you out for a fee, if you are interested. I can set that up for you. It is best you advise me of that prior to your arrival so they are not booked up.

I have 4 mountain bikes that you can borrow. As long as you promise to stay with the bikes at all times or if you must get off them briefly, that you chain them up properly thru the main frames (not wheels) to a secure post when you are not on them. I will supply the chain/lock.

There is also a kayak rental shop two blocks from my house that is located right on the water.

Small dogs are welcome at the suite. We just ask that you take them out through the back gate to the forest to go the bathroom and please clean up after them. If you leave the suite, you need to take them with you and not leave them alone unattended and barking.

Smoking is allowed outside only in the designated areas with the ashtrays. That includes 420 smoking. No cigarette butts in the gardens please.

Dave and I are pretty laid back people and we treat all guests like "friends" coming to visit. If you want exclusive privacy though, we will leave you alone as well. :)

We ourselves sometimes like to go away for a long weekend. If we are away, another friend staying in the main house that we leave in charge, will tend to your needs.

Getting around

If you are busing, there is a bus stop across the street from us and it comes often. (Bus 211 and bus 212.) One of them takes you right downtown Vancouver in 20 minutes. If you have a car, this opens a lot of options for you and I am happy to help you with some ideas on what to do and see in both Deep Cove and in the Greater Vancouver area. Whistler is just a 1.5 hour drive away from us and the sea to sky highway to get there, is breathtakingly beautiful.

Interaction with guest

You can ring our front door bell in an emergency or just text my cell anytime at all if you need us. One of us is usually around to assist you with directions, buses, or things to do if you want our help. If you wish no contact with us, that is fine too. There is a binder full of info in the suite with information (and menus) of local restaurants, pubs, beer/wine shops, ski resorts, local hiking and biking trails, kayak shops and other attractions. There is also a “chest” beside the couch with an abundance of pamphlets on Deep Cove & Vancouver and nearby attractions & things to do. Vancouver is only 20 mins away.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Kim (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
