Description

Set amidst oaks and cypress on the beautiful Lazy Turtle Lodge, our 10 acre estate, Turtle Palace is the perfect place to escape, float, kayak, canoe, cave dive, bird watch, explore springs or watch the river flow. We consider this our little piece of "heaven on earth". This unit (we also have Turtle Heaven) is a cozy, comfy, 28' Cardinal RV camper located 15 minutes from Historic High Springs and 40 minutes from the Swamp in downtown Gainesville. The camper has a queen bed, full size pull out sofa, gas stove, fridge, microwave, shower and toilet. All linens, towels, shampoo, and complimentary coffee and tea are provided. Weber grill is available on the large covered wood deck and is perfect for barbecuing after a day on the River. Wonderful double outside showers are the guests' favorites and shower wraps/robes are also provided.

A firepit is available for localized bonfires. and there is plenty of kindling - just bring cut firewood or an axe. A short 500 foot walk or drive gets you to the banks of the Santa Fe River. There is No TV but there is a DVD player and DVD's. There is NO Internet but Wi-Fi is available around the main Lodge which is the owner's resident. Guests have access to a communal hot double outside shower (beautiful on moon lit nights), chairs on the dock, and kayak/canoe launch. Special arrangements can be made for access to a separate trailer with cooking facilities for an additional clean up fee of $35. The Lazy Turtle Lodge is a 10 acre estate, set in a quiet and beautiful oak, cypress and spanish moss hammock on the banks of the Santa Fe River, one of North Florida's most beautiful spring fed rivers. The estate includes Turtle Heaven (the trailer also on FlipKey), Turtle Palace (the camper), and the main Lodge. Peace, tranquility, wildlife and beautiful sunsets are the norm. Turtle Palace is also a 1.5 mile country walk to Rum Island Park and a short drive to Oleno St. Park. It is also across from Lily Springs, downriver from Poe Springs and upriver from Ginnie Springs. Guests can float/paddle directly from the dock at the Lazy Turtle Lodge to Rum Island Park or put in at US 441 or US 27 for a longer river ride to the Lodge. Canoe and kayak rentals are available at Rum 138 on the corner of CR 138 and Rum Island Terrace and can be delivered on-site. Whether you want to canoe, kayak, paddle board, float, fish or simple watch the river go by on the dock, Turtle Palace is the place to completely get away from big city stress. "Glamping" and ecotourism at its best. All guests will be asked to sign a General Accident and Release of Liability Form at check in.

Pam and Lance live in the Main Lodge by the river and love to see their guests enjoy all that is to offer. The Lodge's "back yard" is made available to all guests during their stay and the Hosts are available only as needed preferring to give our guests total privacy.

“"Just Us Girls" Retreat”

Look no further! This is an absolute jewel right on the Santa Fe River. This place was just perfect for us girls. It's the best of both worlds for any skeptics and to appeal to the glitz side of you ladies, where you are in close proximity (about 20 minutes) to some of the best shopping in Gainesville and the elegant and cute feminine touches inside your "cabin or camper," while maintaining that outdoorsy appeal for your more laid back, adventureous side. The owners are friendly and have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay comfortable. Towels, linens, well stocked with kitchen utensils, pots, pans, spices... Amazing! There was even a coffee pot for that morning cup of brew to enjoy "slow and easy" on the patio, while enjoying deer grazing nearby or watch the place's namesake, a cute river turtle, make it's way from the flower garden to the river ever so slowly with, seemingly no worries. Thus the name, Lazy Turtle Inn. You will, in fact, have no worries. There is a well-maintained path leading from the inn to the river, a very brief walk where you can enjoy a nice sandy beach for lawn chairs or take advantage of the dock where you can watch the lazy river go by and even socialize with occasional kayake or fishing enthusiasts. We were entertained by two friendly labs coming to cool off in the river. They kept to themselves and we're quite humorous to watch. The gorgeous Rum Island Springs is a short 10 min. drive. It is also about an hour float from the dock. As luck would have it, the rain came, but it didn't dampen our spirits with so much to do in the area. For nightlife, a locally popular Jamey Michael King Band was playing at Ellie Ray's [outdoor] "concert" patio on the Suwannee, which is about a 15 minute drive from the Lazy Turtle. There is an outdoor grill for you barbeque experts to enjoy a family picnic or ride into High Springs to the The Outdoors diner for a nice meal, enjoy music or an adult beverage. It's also a short drive, maybe 15 mins. I could go on and on. Loved this place! Thank you Pam and Lance.
