Description

We live out in the country but still a short drive from shopping and town life. We are located central to DC, Richmond, Culpeper, Warrenton, and the Shenandoah National Park. The room has a Queen bed, plenty of closet space, a playpen for anyone traveling with a baby, and access to shared 1.5 bathrooms. Our house features a pond view in the back and the sun rises on the opposite side of the house so you will not be woken up by morning sun.

The space

We live in the country and enjoy the quiet atmosphere and privacy that accompanies this. We live less than 5 minutes away from a county park that boasts hiking trails, swimming, and a golf course. We have vegetable gardens and keep chickens for fresh eggs.

Guest access

The spare room is yours to sleep in and there are 1.5 bathrooms available to share. The living area is shared however we will most likely keep busy in the garden, homeschool room, and working our home businesses. Guests can access the back deck, front porch, living room, dining room, and yoga room when it is not used for class.

Interaction with guests

One host is a yoga teacher, guests can take in a private yoga lesson or scheduled class during their stay for an extra charge. We can offer shopping, restaurant, and historical tour recommendations if needed. We enjoy being social with guests but will respect your privacy.

The neighborhood

We live near a variety of different types of farms- vegetable, fruit, livestock, tree, and horse- and wineries. Even though we are in the country, we are a short drive to shopping and town life. We live less than 5 minutes away from a county park that boasts hiking trails, swimming, and a golf course.

Getting around

We are not near public transportation. However, there are 2 commuter parking lots within 15-20 minutes drive and a metro train station that goes into DC within 1 hour's drive.

Other things to note

We use natural, homemade cleaners using ingredients such as vinegar, baking soda, borax, castile soap, and essential oils. We do not use bleach or harsh chemical cleaners. These items produce waste that is harmful to our well water and the food grown in our garden.

House rules

We can allow friendly pets that will be safe around our inside/outside dog and chickens. We allow smoking only outside and ask that you refrain from using e-cigarette units inside during meal times; outside or in the room is preferable.

We offer WiFi however we do not allow videos, movies, or any other high data usage. We have limited satellite internet and it will run out quickly if the internet is used in this way.

Why can't I call Nathan (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Nathan (the owner) a message.

If Nathan (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
