Channing House is a spacious 2-bedroom, detached guest house on a private estate in Los Angeles. Once part of Bette Davis’ estate Riverbottom, it is nestled in the equestrian area, which abuts Griffith Park. Just minutes from Hollywood, Los Feliz and the major studios: Warner Bros, NBC, CBS, Disney, Nickelodeon. With our heated pool and bucolic atmosphere, it is a perfect holiday spot and an oasis for work...

The House has a large stylish Moroccan open plan LIVING ROOM and KITCHEN, great round white chandeliers that pattern the white washed walls. The large Moroccan wood dining is bathed in light from the arched windows. 32” flat screen television, set up with both digital cable and Apple TV with Netflix’s library of content. A handmade Moroccan couch (that can also be used as another bed for additional guests) and the original art on the walls make this a great ‘home away from home’

The MASTER BEDROOM looks through arched windows at the fruit orchard and the unique round brickwork and shingled roof of the estate’s gate. It is bright and spacious with a king-sized bed, an all natural organic mattress and a comfortable headboard to snuggle into with your late night novel. A Moroccan chandelier casts soft light patterns on the clear bright walls. Watch the moon rise over the blue foothills of Mount Hollywood.

BEDROOM 2 also has Moroccan lights, dark wood floors, and two comfy twin beds (which can be pushed together as a King bed for couples). The front windows look out toward the Mountains as they turn purple in the evening light.

BONUS ROOM. There is a little entry room to the house. For those who have wanted a little extra space, it has worked as an additional office for some guests with a desk and plenty of outlets – or can be used as a third bedroom for a child in a cot with the use of blackout curtains.

The slate tiled BATHROOM has a built in shower room and a stackable washer and drier. The patterned hallway off the living room has the controls for the central heating and air conditioning.

Rivergate is a private, historic equestrian ESTATE. It enjoys massive organic gardens, almost half acre of drought tolerant garden with an abundance of butterflies and birds, saltwater pool and spa, hammocks, shade trees, French Lavender maze for toddlers to learn to walk through, art studio, fire pit, fountain area, fruit orchard, outdoor dining areas… and Wi-Fi throughout.

The Channing House is at the front of the grounds by the orchard and secure off street parking. Named after Margo Channing, Davis’ larger than life character in the 1950 movie “All About Eve,” it is the second largest house available on the estate.

We share the estate with other houses that are available.

It is not uncommon as the sun is setting that we all gather to play or chat in the garden, the park, or in the front orchard. It is a unique place and a little hard to describe, it feels a little like a village on a summer day.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
