Description

Located in the beautiful department of Morbihan in southern Brittany, Couetilliec is an exclusive hamlet of 4 charming C17th and C18th stone holiday cottages set in 30 acres of private woodland, lawns, meadow, stream and a large heated swimming pool (11.5m X 5m X2m max. depth). The pool is open from May to September inclusive.

Oak cottage is a spacious and beautiful 17th century three bedroom stone cottage, with an airy open plan ground floor. The fitted kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, extractor fan, microwave, fridge and freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. The dining area has a solid oak table, six chairs and an oak Welsh dresser. The lounge has two large sofas, TV, DVD player, a wood burning stove set in a granite fireplace, English free-to-air satellite TV and French terrestrial TV. A feature open-tread oak staircase leads to a landing giving access to the three bedrooms and the bathroom. The bedrooms comprise a double, a twin and a single. The bathroom has a P-shaped shower bath with shower over, hand basin, toilet and heated towel rail. The entire first-floor flooring is solid chestnut as are the 'A' frames and these have been sanded and oiled to restore them to their former glory and are now a feature of this stunning character cottage. The cottage also has free Wi-Fi (suitable for web browsing).

The large (11.5m X 5m X 2m max. depth) heated swimming pool is open from May to September inclusive. Roman steps give ease of access and sun loungers are positioned on the large surrounding patio. The pool area is fenced and accessed via a locking gate. The pool is in a secluded position and flanked on three sides by a sweeping lawn with woodland beyond.

Price includes a welcome basket (for stays of 7 or more nights), cleaning products, bed linen, bath mats, hand, bath and tea towels, please bring your own pool / beach towels. Log burners and electric heating for winter lets only.

Couetilliec is perfect for families as you will find lots to see and do at the many local attractions or sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity in the heated swimming pool, extensive lawns, woodland and meadow. Couetilliec is at the end of a country lane with no passing traffic and absolutely no road noise so everybody can relax and play in safety. It is also a great place if you like an abundance of fauna and flora. We have seen red squirrel, deer, badgers, foxes, buzzards, owls and woodpeckers. There are many ancient pollarded trees and most are smothered in an array of mosses, lichens and ferns. With zero light pollution it's also a great place for a spot of star gazing. The owners, Carl and Belinda, live on site and they maintain the pool and the grounds and are available when you need them and invisible when you don't. Carl's previous professional career includes, forestry, sustainable land management and scientific research into environmental, forestry and remediation of contaminated land issues. Carl also has a keen interest in green woodworking, traditional woodland crafts, woodland management, Oak timber-framing and C17th French building techniques. Please let us know if you are interested in any of these subjects. We have a well-trained working Cocker Spaniel called Jazz and a Chocolate Labrador called Otta. There are two farm cats, a few chickens and a pig.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
