Shikwari Game Reserve

Offers two camps on a reserve close to Kruger & the Panorama. Relax on the lodge veranda taking in the view and cool off in the shady pool. Enjoy friendly relaxed service in amazing surroundings and great cuisine. It is managed by the owners, passionate about offering the best experience to guests. We are happy to offer discounted rate for either or both of the camps.

Shikwari Suites TGCSA 4 Star Rated

The camp offers a fully licensed bar & lounge with premium DSTV. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lounge/veranda area. Relax on the shady lodge veranda taking in the view & cool off in the pool with an amazing view. Enjoy relaxed friendly service in amazing surroundings.

Six luxury thatched suites are tucked into the natural bush; with private bathroom & outdoor shower, sitting area plus a small patio decorated with stylish furniture & choice of beds with percale linen. There is a Hospitality Tray with fresh ground coffee, French press, a choice of quality teas & homemade cookies as well as a mini fridge. The fridge can be stocked on request, charge to guests account. There is also a Turndown service Rate includes Half Board

Pangolin Rondavels

A more budget option but very comfortable. There are 4 traditional thatched rondavels. 2 rondavels with a “Bush Bathroom” - outdoor shower, covered toilet & basin & 2 rondavels share a separate bathroom and outdoor shower suitable for 4 friends or a family with teenagers. All beds offer luxury percale linen as well as towels. All rooms have a wardrobe, seating, & hospitality trays. There is a lounge with Premium DSTV and a pool. Meals are taken at the main lodge.Rate includes Dinner & Breakfasts It is situated on the private plains game reserve of Shikwari.

Guided Game drives & walks with a FGASA guide available at the lodge and to Kruger Park in an open game vehicle. The reserve is also close many other exciting day trips such as the Panorama and the Graskop Gorge Lift. These all carry an extra cost.

Children welcome - 5yrs -12yrs old are accommodated parents at 50% of the Adult sharing rate. Teens 13 -18yrs accommodated at 100% of the adult sharing rate in own room or with one other adult and/or 2 younger siblings. This applies to both camps.

Guests at both camps take meals at the Shikwari Suites. meals at Shikwari include Half Board At Pangolin we offer B&B or Half board. There is a boma for braais at Pangolin but no kitchen. One needs to bring ones own kitchenware and plates or we can do braai packs with a starch and a salad or Veg at a cost of approximately R150.00pp

Getting around

One will need a car or we are able to offer a guide and vehicle from the Eastgate International Airport (HDS) book connecting flights from Cape Town or Johannesburg with S A Express. Don't expect taxis, trains or a regular bus service, they just don't exist. Public transport is not the norm in South Africa most people drive everywhere and the African taxis' are not recommended for tourists. We are able to do transfers and host guest on sightseeing trips. . No Uber in this area either.

Interaction with guest

Guest are welcomed by one or both of the owners and/or staff. We are always available but don't encroach on our guests personal space. We are happy to offer information about the area and book activities and show guests the route. Our guide would be with guests that are not self drive and also cook for them.

No smoking inside or on veranda or near children and food this is in line with South Africa smoking laws.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Sue (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
