Cute and cosy cottage style apartment in a quiet location but with easy access north and south to the beaches of Iglesias.
Just 45 minutes from Cagliari airport.
why do you want an apartment in an over crowded complex when you can have this, peace and quite.
just the rumor of the sheep bells and the humming of the bees. You will love this place if you like nature, being situated in a rural mountain village but just 10 mins drive to some amazing beaches. Trekking, mountain biking, rock climbing on your doorstep, just step outside the door and start walking. Sardinia is now one of the most popular destinations for outdoor adventure.
Probably more suited for the active person who likes to be on the move not just beach holiday, because on your doorstep there is a host of things to do and see. For instance rock climbing is becoming very popular in this area along with trekking, mountain biking, pot holeing, Then along the coast you have snorkeling, sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing, diving, canoe hire, rib hire, all can be arranged prior to coming.
But for those that want a beach holiday, then beaches are just 10mins away. That is one of the main features of this apartment, you have some of the best beaches in Europe on your doorstep. One which is 3 klms long so never gets to crowded even at peak times. Plus many smaller bays and coves. One of the most popular beaches are Masua and Cala Domestica with the closest and longest being Fontanamare.
This charming and quiet village of around 200 people set on the edge of a national park,j ust outside Iglesias on the south west corner of Sardinia. The best part about this cottage is its peace and quiet and its a joy to return to the freshness inside of the thick stone walls, after soaking up the sun on one of the many beaches close by as the house stays cool because of the thick stone walls. But if thats not enough we now have a portable air con unit which you can rent for a small fee. Not inc in rental price.
Iglesias is full of places to eat or drink caffe. You will find banks, supermarkets, and all the shops that you want. Also in San Benedetto there is a small shop so you dont always have to go to town to by food etc, wine on draught which is excelent, can be bought in the local shop, but i would recomend for a big shop you go to Iglesias, mainly because you will have more things to choose from.
Every monday in Iglesias you will find an open market where you will find many bargains plus lots of fresh veges and fruit. Also in Iglesias in July and August the shops in the historic centre will stay open until mid night, along with the bars and restaurants, the streets closed to traffic as the table and chairs spill into the street from the bars and restaurants, where people will eat and drink in the warm evening air that we have in Sardinia.
You will find walking on your doorstep in the mountains and forest, where you can go it alone or my dog and i can show you around so you dont get lost.
The beaches all with crystal clear sea are just 15 mins away where you can swim, surf, snorkel, in fact all sports available. Beautiful coastal walks can be found with breathtaking views and once again you can do your own thing or i am more than willing to assist.
There is wine tasting at a local vinyard and i can tell you they are some great wines.
Yes this cottage has a real cosy feel although about 150 years old it was restored by me about 10 years ago for my family and friends, but now it is available to rent. There is no garden with this property, but we do have a portable BBQ which you can use outside or we do have the use of a small terrace opposite the property. There is free WiFi Iglesias which can be temperamental and may not always work inside the property. But works fine outside.
For those who like walking i can arrange for some interesting guided walks to some more remote parts, the walks can be long or short it all depends where and when, with a break of course. Plus it is the only way to see the real Sardinia.
Mountain biking is big here, i go often when i have time as i like to explore and often go alone as i like to take photos of interesting things or flowers and post on one of the social networks but many people take it more seriously and cover many klms and stay out all day. If you are interested in mountain biking whether its a relaxing ride or a gruelling drive that you want, i will assist you where i can, i am in my 60's so if anyone wants to join me on an excursion they are welcome and i would love to show you around. Even if you have not done this sort of thing before give it a go. But more in the low season or you might find it to hot.
Now available an all day excursion in a sailing boat a Bavaria 12 mts as in the photo where you can learn how to sail or just relax and take in the sun, the trip is from 9am to around 7pm stopping for swimming and snorkeling in isolated bays. Not to be missed. Its the boat in the photo.
