Description from owner

Kilim Cottage stands in a beautiful walled garden surrounding a 185 sq metre resort-sized shared pool. It is in the heart of Kalkan, close to many of the restaurants and only a short walk to the pretty harbour front. There is no need to hire a car unless you want to travel further afield. This charming holiday home has been crafted and built in the traditional method using local stone. It has two lovely balconies, one featuring local timbers and the other with a bougainvillea-draped pergola. Kilim Cottage benefits from 2 separate interior staircases offering extra privacy. Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms which have been totally refurbished for the start of the 2018 season. It also has a fantastic large roof terrace with sun canopy and sun beds for private relaxation in the sun, and is fully stocked with cutlery and crockery together with its own dishwasher and refrigerator. There are also two large patio areas overlooking the pool providing both eating facilities and also a separate relaxing seating area. Very close to the shops including a well-stocked supermarket, the best bakery in Kalkan, green grocers and butchers. Kilim Cottage is in an ideal location and if you love everything Turkish - then this is the place for you. Both bathrooms have been fully refurbished for the start of the 2018 season.

Very Good

“A perfect place to stay”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2013

Kilim cottage is a beautiful detached cottage with a large shared pool. The cottage is rustic inside and was ideal for myself and my teenage son as it has separate staircases that have bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs. This gave us privacy and our own space. The cottage has all you need for a very comfortable stay with balconies overlooking the large pool. The location is perfect with only a ten or fifteen minute easy walk to the harbour where you will find numerous restaurants and bars. Kalkan is very hilly but thankfully Kilim is at the bottom of a steep hill. The owners were really helpful arranging our airport transfer with a local taxi company that even provided ice cold water on our arrival ! All in all I could not fault this beautiful cottage and thanks Maggie and Faith for sharing your piece of paradise with us !!

“Peaceful retreat”

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay at Kilim cottage. The cottage is fully airconiditioned and the electric mosquito repelent devices were hugely welcome! The cottage is set in the heart of Kalkan so it is very easy to walk to restaurants and the harbour yet, the surrounding gardens make one feel they are a long way away from the hustle and bustle. The children would have happily spent every day in the pool with the cats, dogs and tortoises! - However, we did drag them away to see all the amazing historical sites around Kalkan. We have never seen anything more impressive. We also went on boat trips, white water 'rubber ringing', mud bathing and ate wonderful food. The facilities in the cottage are more than adequate to cook at home, which we did for at least one meal a day. Thank you for letting your lovely cottage out to us where we had the most wonderful stay. A note for guests - If you arrive at night, the name outside the main gate is 'Hannin' and carved down on the wall on the left side of the gate. Kilim cottage is inside this gate. Happy holiday!

“Kalkan is wonderful and Kilim Cottage is perfectly located”

Reviewed 31 Dec 2011

We spent a month touring Turkey and Kilim Cottage was a real highlight for us. Kalkan itself is an idealic little village with an incrediable outlook. Kilim Cottage is located right in central Kalkan, however the villa and pool are surrounded by beauitful gardens, your tranquil escape. The shared pool is wonderful, we meet some lovely people staying at the adjoining apartments, people that come back year after year, as they have found their own slice of heaven. Stroll out the gate and in peak season enjoy over 100 restaurants or have a great night in with a BBQ around the pool, the choice is yours. The villa itself had everything we needed. The owners Maggie and Faith couldn't have been more helpful, there are brochures and travel guides in the villa and Maggie answered all my questions prior re: transfers and surrounding attractions informatively and promptly. We only spend a week here, we could have easily stayed longer, it a great spot for day tripping to surrounding locations and then there's some lovely spots to discver in Kalkan itself. It also seems a shame to go out everyday as the pool is so lovely for a relaxing day with a book. As we were travelling with children the shared pool was a real plus as the children made friends with others. If we make it back to Turkey we would definitely stay at Kilim cottage again and for longer this time.

“Beautiful cottage in the ideal location - Highly Recommended”

We had a wonderful week in Kilim coattage in Kalkan. The cottage itself is extremely homely, with everything provided that you might need. It has a lovely pool that is shared but the week we stayed we saw very few people. The cottage is very private and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. Kalkan itself is a great location for a lazy week away. With many, many excellent restaurants & bars to choose from, right on the doorstep from the cottage. Our favourite was the Nar, with amazing steaks but also had great meals at The Paparazzi, Sofra & The Olive Garden. We also had a wonderful boat trip on the Yildiz 2, this comes with the most amazing views and lunch served by the boat owners who are just so friendly and welcoming. Maggie & Faith, the owners of Kilim Cottage made booking our holiday extremely easy, answering any questions we had and also arranging our airport transfers at by far the cheapest rate we could find. Thanks Maggie & Faith for a great holiday, we will definitely look to come back and recommend to anyone looking to holiday in Kalkan.

“Lovely cottage with large pool in fantastic location close to old town”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2011

My wife and I and our two year old daughter stayed at Kilim Cottage during the first 2 weeks of September 2011. It was our first trip to Kalkan and we had a great time. The cottage is located in the best position for walking to the old town and the beach. It takes about 10 mins to walk to the harbour area, and there are a number of small supermarkets and grocers within 5 mins walk. Most of the other villas are much farther up the hill, which is very steep, and a a car or taxi would undoubtedly be necessary. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and includes two large double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a third room with a comfortable sofa bed and separate bathroom. We put our daughter in the third bedroom in her travel cot. We cooked a number of meals at home and the kitchen was fine for this with adequate utensils etc. There was also a large living room Turkish style decorations. The cottage was air-conditioned throughout which was essential in the 40degree heat. The outside spaces were lovely with a large curved swimming pool, set in a lush green garden. The pool is shared with the other cottages but there was hardly anyone else around so it felt very relaxing and peaceful. There is a large outside table directly outside the cottage for eating and evening drinks. The Old town itself is very pretty and includes lots of shops and restaurants. It is quite touristy, but not offensively so. There is a very attractive pebbly beach with crystal clear water. Famously beautiful beaches at Patara and Kaputas are easily accessible by a short bus ride from the bus station 10 mins up the hill from the cottage.

“The Oasis in Town”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2011

Kilim Cottage was the perfect place to stay for our first time in Kalkan. Conveniently close to town, yet tranquil and private. The pool is fantastic, very big and not overcrowded when shared with the people in the other villas in the complex. The pool/garden area is lush with greenery and the views of the mountains are superb. The cottage itself is unique and has a more traditional style in its decor. The living spaces downstairs are big with lots of space to lounge about. They're also sometimes a welcome retreat from the heat of the day! The availibility of three bathrooms was very useful with three girls staying there for the week and the bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. There really isn't anything bad to say about Kilim Cottage, there were even guidebooks about Turkey and information about local attractions and things to do, which meant we had everything we needed for our week long stay. I would definitely stay there again and I enjoyed every minute of my holiday in Kalkan!
