Description

A lovely 100+-year-old, traditionally restored, stone-built house, with a private courtyard located in the peaceful village of Choulou, a 20 minute drive from Paphos.

Ideal for a relaxing family holiday whilst exploring rural Cyprus.

The space

A lovely stone build cottage built in 1914.

The cottage has been recently renovated. It consists of the main house, called 'palati' (palace), a big kitchen with all the mod cons (fridge/freezer, electric hob, gas oven, washing machine, kettle, frape mixer), a bathroom/wetroom and a separate private bedroom located on the first floor.

The village of Choulou is a 20 minute drive from Paphos. Up to the 1950s Choulou was the capital village of the surrounding villages with a population of around 1000. Today, there are about 70 permanent residents and much of the village is abandoned.

Choulou is a scenic, beautiful and quiet village. It is surrounded by a wonderful natural environment and it is located next the river of Ezousa, one of the biggest in Cyprus, and next to the Ammati forest.

The altitude of Choulou is 350 meters above sea level. Choulou also has five churches. Panagia Pantanassa (the village's main church), Holly Cross chapel, St Kononas chapel, the Venetian church, St Theodoros and the Byzantine church dedicated to St George.

The village has a coffeeshop with a mini market. There is a tavern in the close-by village of Letymbou, just 6km away and a supermarket in Polemi village (around 8km away).

Other things to note

For winter time the house has an electric heater. If you would like to use the fireplace, there is an additional charge for wood, which is 8 euros per day. You can also buy this on your own at local newsagents for a similar price.

Getting around

There is a local bus service to Paphos at 07:40 and 14:30 (Saturday: 07:00 and 10:50), departing from the village center. You can catch the bus to Choulou from Paphos daily at 11:50 and 15:50 (Saturday: 10:00 and 14:00) from Karavella station. We can also organise picking you up from Paphos airport or Paphos town and transferring to the house for an additional fee.

Interaction with guest

We are based in Paphos city and available via phone, however, we visit the village regularly and can be at your disposal if you need any advice in getting around.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Despo (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
