Description

Our 19th century stone cottage is located close to where the borders of the Creuse, Haute Vienne and Indre regions meet. It has a secluded position in a quiet hamlet of stone built cottages, within 10 minutes drive of the A20 autoroute and only 35 minutes from Limoges airport.

The property is well equipped, offers spacious accommodation and is suitable for ages from 5 and above. On the ground floor there is a lounge, kitchen diner and a toilet/shower room.The dining table will seat six people comfortably and the lounge will accommodate up to six people. Upstairs there is a large family shower room and three good sized bedrooms comprising two double bedrooms and one twin room. All rooms have thermostatic electric heaters. There is a TV with UK Freesat an DVD player (no French TV)

The garden encircles the property allowing sun or shade whenever you want during the day. At the front of the property is a patio area which is a great sun trap even in cooler weather ! There is a wooden picnic table with parasol together with gardens chairs to relax in.

There is plenty of parking room alongside the property.

The nearest small town is Azerables which is a five minute drive away and has a restaurant, grocery store, baker, chemist and church. The Roman town of La Souterraine is the nearest large town and is approximately 7 miles away. It has weekly markets, a number of large supermarkets, banks, a train station, shops, restaurants, swimming pool and leisure centre. There are also a number of good inexpensive restaurants close by serving quality food which we can personally recommend.

Activities are well catered for with an indoor swimming pool at La Souterraine, an outdoor pool at Lac de Mondon and lake swimming and water sports are available at Lac de Chambon approximately 8 miles away. The area is also great for cycling with off road trails for mountain biking or on road where you will find there is very little traffic. The area is also ideal for birdwatching with the Brenne regional national park less that an hour's drive away.

You can also fish at the many lakes and rivers in the the area. Locally there is an excellent carp lake at Lac de Chaume which is about two miles away and very popular with local anglers.

The surrounding countryside is very tranquil and consists windy roads in wooded valleys punctuated by streams and sleepy villages, great if you just want to get out and explore either on foot, by bike or by car.

Nearby places to visit include the beautiful river Creuse winding deep within a steep sided valley, the castle at Crozant sitting high above the Creuse river and the picture postcard towns of Argentan and Montmorillon.
