Description from owner

Description

The Red Rooster village homestay Goa is an extention of the Carvalho mansion, built in the year 1789. It was initially an outdoor storage area for coconuts and was there after renovated to form a part of a very basic 1 bed room house from where it gets the name. It was then modified into a hair styling Salon & finally it has been revamped into a quaint & rustic goan house. We've kept it simple yet elegant. We look forward to hosting couples/families/single women travellers our homestay

“KEEP LOOKING YOU DONT WANT TO BE HERE”

Reviewed 25 May 2019

Terrible place. No internet No hot water ANTS everywhere We left as soon as we could book another place didnt even stay 6 hours, Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

Owner's reply: James, Let me reply to your points in order so that it is clear to everyone about who is being 'Accurate' as its completely unfair to for anyone to hear just one side of a story, especially when the review has a drastic contrast to any of the previous reviews ( or post reviews for that matter) which is there for everyone to see. As a traveler and guest myself, I understand that guest review is a strong tool that can be used to give a picture about a place, but something as childish, half baked and premature as yours holds no credibility and has already been reported by me to the respective portal on which you have booked. Reason why your review although visible as the last review on the portal, is disregarded and has not affected my rating/super host status. They were very supportive and compassionate about the issue when reported as they understand the situation clearly. 1. The internet Router was kept on bed room dressing table along with a step by step instruction for use . Seems like you did not have the patience to read it but just drew a conclusion that the internet wasn't working. (ALSO MENTIONED IN THE HOUSE MANUAL SECTION ON THE RESPECTIVE LISTING PAGE) 2. We have a geyser switch for Hot water which were clearly noted in the instructions left for you at the table and also on our listing description . This is a home and not a hotel. Just a mere operation of opening a tap will not get you hot water like is the case of any hotel. (ALSO MENTIONED IN THE HOUSE MANUAL SECTION ON THE RESPECTIVE LISTING PAGE) 3. We noticed that you have left some food items in the kitchen ( and not in the refrigerator) due to which this is Goa and also summer. Ants will come for open food items. Just to make a certain facts clear 1. You checked in at 01 30 am. In view of this if you go through our communication thread, I have sent you all the information that was required for a smooth check in without my presence required as it was an odd hour. To this there was absolutely no acknowledgement. This left me unaware to whether or not you had read the information. Reason why I left you a note pad on the main dining table with a point by point instruction guide. 2. The next morning my mum came to you to ask whether everything was in order and your replied to her in a very Condescending, crass and uncouth manner with even a hint of racism to it which is completely NOT acceptable anywhere in today's world. 3. The price that you were charged per day was approximately 17$ a night. I dont know about Canada, but trust me for Goan standards this is bare minimum. But you behaved and spoke as if you had spent an amount for a stay at a 5 star hotel. 4. It seems that you havnt really understood the whole homestay concept by the way you were just throwing your weight around when my mum approached you in a very amicable manner. To tell you the truth it left her a bit shaken up. 5. When you left the house for breakfast in the morning you left all the switches on ( This includes the AC, lights, fans, Water geyser ( WHICH IT SEEMS YOU HAD LOCATED BUT STILL CHOSE TO REVIEW ABOUT). 6. You mentioned to my mum that you could not reply to my messages on the respective portal because you did not have access to the internet. You also mentioned that you had been travelling in India for the past 3 weeks. Yet you decided to review us about 'NO INTERNET'at my listing, drawing a conclusion within '6 HOURS'that the internet was not working. 3 Weeks of no internet as compared 6 hours of no internet due to the simple reason of not knowing how to operate the router seems a bit unfair dont you think? Going through your profile it is evident that you have no reviews before mine. I would not like any hosts to experience what We have at our homestay while hosting you. Reason I have left a clear picture of my experience. This is a first for me and Im sure it is only an exception among all the amazing travellers we've had at our homestay and the memories we've made.
