Very Good

“Quiet clean and well located”

Reviewed 14 Feb 2018

This is a modern building, impeccably clean and extremely well appointed with everything you could need for a pleasant holiday. Since we were unlucky with the weather we appreciated the library of books and dvd's and the extra throw's to tuck round us while watching. We sadly didn't have the weather to enjoy the outdoors but I can imagine sitting round the table even making a BBQ (all equipment supplied) or even lying reading a book on the sun loungers, or sitting having breakfast at the small table in front of the cottage. Everything thought of for the holiday makers comfort. We had one problem with the gate in the storm and Colin came out and sorted that, and another when we struggled to sort out how to work the dvd player, and Colin came down to help us. He was very patient. The valley that the finca lies in is broad and the road is not nearly as twisty as most other roads so that it was easy to jump in the car and nip down to the port, which is pretty and wasn't overwhelmed by the (mainly German) tourists. For a tourist resort it was extremely pleasant and I did brave the waters on two occasions when the sun shone. It shone much more down at the port than even up in the valley and certainly was the place to go most days when the clouds were hovering half way down the mountain sides. We explored further afield on the motorway which was safe and uncrowded and now comes all the way from Agaete (at 10 o'clock on thr map, right round to Mogan at 7 0'clock. The road round the Agaete has a fair few twists and bends but although we did it in bits probably would not be above an hours drive, since there is a new piece of road from La Aldea San Nicholas half way to Agaete. So everywhere on the coast is within an easy drive. Going up into the hills is a different matter and some are not for the faint hearted since they are adept at putting roads up vertical slopes! Also not if you are prone to car sickness. We are OAP's and my husband dosn't walk so we spent alot of each day driving. However the bus system seems amazing and gets to every small village. So it would be quite possible to take the bus to the top of the hill and walk back down and easy 10kms at a guess. Lots and lots of cyclists on all the mountain roads. They obviously enjoy it and seem fearless (i was overtaken by a cyclist on a down hill run!) I think it would be wonderful walking country. Our special place to go was the Playa Tasarte, turning off the road to La Aldea about half way along. There is a wonderful restaurant right on the beach side and we found it on a breezy day but with the sun shining and had a very well cooked but simple (as all food offered is) lunch, watching the waves crash onto the volcanic stones on the beach which rumbled a song! Please enjoy your stay with Colin and Ruth at their Finca.

Owner's reply: Thank you Sarah really appreciate your review. Am sorry the weather was not kinder to you and Colin so that you could appreciate Mogan Valley with the sun shining.maybe a reason to return
