Murray House Bed & Breakfast is a private retreat. Delightfully unique! Just a short 5 minute walk to the beach and famous Newport Mansions & Cliff Walk. An in ground swimming pool is also available at Murray House. It's a very easy, straight, 4 minute ride, to downtown Newport's shopping, pubs and restaurants.

Privacy is the key here, all the rooms have their own outside entrances into the room, as well as private patios, decks or balconies. A homemade breakfast is served to your room or patio to further ensure that privacy feeling. Each room has a corner seating area and comes equipped with a coffee pot, microwave, toaster & small refrigerators for your convenience,

The rooms have queen beds, private baths and electric fire places for that special ambiance. A theme is carried out in each room and is charmingly decorated. The rooms overlook award winning flower gardens, swimming pool, Koi pond, or have a water view.

The grounds have a swimming pool, hot tub for 2 near the pool, lovely award winning flower gardens and a small Koi pond. Sunning decks, chairs and chap areas surround the pool.

Wi-fi is free. There is Cable TV, A/C & ceiling fans. Free private off street parking is included in the room rate.

Well behaved pets are welcome. We have a dog park a 4 minute walk from Murray House that all dogs love. Pets must be people and pet friendly.

Getting around

Murray House will send a complete list of restaurants, places to go and things to see and do to your personal email, prior to arrival. Ripta bus service pick up is a 5 minute walk away. Purchase one ticket and ride around all day, getting on and off at will. Sightseeing at it's best and cheapest. Taxis and Uber always available with advance notice.

Interaction with guest

Guests that come to Murray House prefer privacy. I'm all for that, but I am also very available if they need me. I keep in constant contact via email to make sure all is well. I am on the premises, so can be found at a moments notice.

Owner's reply: Hi Nerses, Thanks for the 5 star review for Murray House. I am sorry the coffee pot did not meet your expectations. I wish you had just made me aware and I would have replaced it. The pot is rinsed & cleaned after each stay, but it seems some coffee sediment had gotten left behind. It's a black coffee pot, so hard to see. I will make sure that my cleaning people are a bit more thorough in the future. The musty smell happens with rainy weather. It comes and goes depending on whether it is sunny or rainy. Newport is an island and prone to this kind of thing. Hope this helps. Noreen

Owner's reply: Sorry to say this guest did not make me aware of her complaints anytime during her stay. I checked in with her to make sure all was well and offered to meet her and her dog. She said she would get back to me. No noise has ever been reported in the room she was staying in. Not now and not in the past, so I am very confused. The rules she speaks of are standard rules to help guide my guests for a comfortable stay, ie where to park your car in assigned parking, maid entry, A/C problems if any, Wi-Fi codes and any other pertinant information that my guests need to know and are happy to be made aware of. I am sorry that she was unhappy, but I'm still confused.

Why can't I call Noreen (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How can I retract my booking request?

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Noreen (the owner) a message.

If Noreen (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
