Description

This place is nice and quiet with friendly neighbours. Visitors say our house has a vintage ambiance (but we do have Internet). The house is comfortable and always fresh at night because of the forest. We use to watch DVD's in the 2nd floor office and it is like being in a tree house, the trees are so close!

Heated with a hot-water baseboard system, it warms up quickly on cool nights - but you won't need it in the summer!

Chefs will love the kitchen, which is large and spacious featuring all electric appliances, including a Kitchen Aid stove and oven, Kitchen Aid fridge and freezer with ice maker, a Cuisine Art grill, blender and more. An outdoor propane BBQ is available too. All the utensils and appliances are there - to cook up whatever you fancy!

The living room, dining room and kitchen areas are on the main floor. A compact laundry room sits next to the kitchen with front loading washer and dryer unit. Upstairs are three bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom has a double bed, three closets, an armchair and an electric fireplace. The two smaller rooms, one have a double bed, with their own closet. One of them also has internet, phone and wifi connections. It is easily converted into a spacious child or guest bedroom. Linoleum or tiles covers all the flooring making cleaning a snap. Good quality area rugs in the living room and bedrooms are small and easily cleaned.

A large spacious backyard surrounded by tall trees, a cedar hedge and a vegetable garden, makes it very private and secluded. Quebec banned the use of chemical pesticides on lawns, so children can play in their bare feet without fear on the natural green grass.

From the house, you can walk to the beach in five minutes or easily walk to the quaint village of North Hatley in about 10 minutes. Cute and low key - you can easily find images of it on the Internet. Groceries and necessities can be bought at LeBaron, a family run store that has its own butcher shop. Nearby is the local favourite Pilsen Pub, with an outdoor terrasse, and formal dining indoors, with great views of Lake Massawippi and the river. Kids will enjoy watching the mallard ducks that swim next to the resto - looking for free handouts!

There are many activities to do - biking, golfing, sailing, boating, tennis, outdoor concerts, summer theatre at The Piggery, art shows in the village Library, and more. You can even walk or bike north to Lennoxville, on a 14km trail created on a former railway line, that skirts the meandering Massawippi River. In winter, it's a favourite cross-country ski route. Or you can also visit one of the locations nearby: Magog and famous Lake Memphremagog, shopping and eating in Sherbrooke, Compton featuring great cheese and historic houses, rustic Coaticook with its pedestrian suspension bridge over a deep gorge, hiking on the paths in Mount Orford Park - all of them offer their own specific character.

You can even jump in your car and be in downtown Montreal in about 90 minutes! Or just relax at the house - réposé as we say here, reading comfortably in the garden while enjoying the tranquil peace and quiet... with maybe a visit by a deer or two!

This is truly a safe place to escape and unwind - breathing the fresh country air.

How do damage deposits work?
