Description

At the end of a small lane and overlooking the beautiful River Mira, lies Casa Boakoster. Having been uninhabited for the past 25 years, the house has been lovingly restored by professional carpenter Bas Koster, who has transformed this once-derelict property into a beautiful, charming villa that blends traditional Portuguese architecture with clean interior woodworking, a product of his carpentry experience in the Swiss Alps.

Not satisfied with rebuilding the roof and the first floor, Bas has completed the house by building a large wooden sun terrace that extends out from the ground floor and provides fantastic views over the river, a stone’s throw from the house. The terrace is the perfect place to sunbathe, BBQ and enjoy a glass of tinto and the proximity to the river means that the terrace always catches a little breeze which prevents it from getting too hot, even in the height of summer.

Entering the house from the terrace, large double-doors lead into an open-plan living space, with kitchen, dining table and seating area, a good place to read, write and nap A hand-made wooden staircase leads up to the first floor and into the master bedroom which occupies almost the entire floor space, the rest taken up by the bathroom with its large shower, wash basin and WC. Taking pride of place in the bedroom is a real comfortable king-size bed, again with unbroken views over the river and to the hills beyond. The house can comfortably sleep four people, due to the double sofa-bed on the ground floor. Linen, towels, tea towels are included and cot for a baby is provided.

Guests have access to a great garden with herbs that can be picked fresh for your dishes, a hammock and 2 sitting areas, a big sun terrace with a gas operated Weber BBQ. Inside there is a kitchen with juicer, water boiler, coffee maker, oven, stove, fridge and washing machine. There are a lot of books in different languages, board games and a stereo with a connection for a mp3 player.

The house is located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Great for strolling back after a few drinks and picking up bread at the local bakery located at the end of the street

Follow the street underneath the house to the left and you get to a little chocolate factory.

Directly underneath the house starts a lovely board walk along the river.

Odemira is short drive away from the nearby beaches like Vila Nova de Milfontes, Zambujera en Odeceixe. The closest access to the ocean is Cabo de Sardão but within 30 minutes you can access over 10 beaches. Everything from secluded bays, to rugged cliffs and charming villages with restaurants serving some of the best seafood in Europe.

How do damage deposits work?
