Welcome

Latas country house is a luxurious yet traditional Portuguese house dating back to 1911. It sits within 8 acres of olive grove, surrounded by flower, vegetable and herb gardens to delight.

This is the authentic Beiras region of rolling countryside offers stunning mountain scenery, small bustling market towns and a wide range of river beaches. This country home is a perfect base from which to explore the culture, gastronomy and natural beauty of this unspoilt area.

House and Garden

A former family home and olive farm, has been transformed into a country retreat, which retains all original architectural features, with modern elements. We have carefully sourced and restored antique and eclectic pieces to compliment the style of the house.

The gardens are designed to provide various secluded “pockets” where one can relax, be calm and take in the beauty of the surrounding flora and wildlife and the stunning, far reaching views of the mountains.

Pool Area

Consists of a spacious 15M pool which is heated to 29 degrees all year round. The sun terrace has a selection of shaded cabanas or sun lovers loungers, perfect for chilling on a hot summers day. The outside kitchen area provides a large shaded dining table with fixed seating and will comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests. You will also find barbecue. The honesty bar is conveniently situated next to the pool and is open day and night, fully stocked with good wine, spirits and refreshing soft drinks. You can also grab yourself a tea or coffee … The area has far reaching views of the mountains, a wonderful place to read, relax, play or sunbath.

We welcome guests all year round, with the prospect of blue skies even in winter.

Bedrooms

Latas country house can accommodate 16 guests with 8 double rooms and bathroom facilities. All areas offer spacious sleeping and lounging accommodation with comfortable king sized and oversized twin beds, ensuring a good nights sleep.

Bathrooms are elegantly finished to a high standard with local marble, using modern Hans Grohe or similar standard fittings. We provide soft towels, bathrobes and showering toiletries.

Library

Situated in the main house; sit back, relax and enjoy the quiet …. Choose one of the many books or journals to hand, write back home or catch up on some correspondence …

Kitchen

The kitchen is highly equipped for entertaining, with gas range and hob, large double fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and baking facilities, with a large integral larder.

The large dining table seats 16 people comfortably.

Reception areas

Choose one of two rooms to kick back and get comfy …. Listen to music, watch a great movie or listen to the crackle of the wood burner in chillier months.

Studio

The studio is on the ground floor and provides a large, airy and cool space to energize oneself…. Yoga mats and exercise balls are provided along with some free weights. Towels and water are also provided.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Rita (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
