Description from manager

'The Lost Castle' is a truly secluded holiday retreat in Pelathousa near Polis. If you don't want to see a neighbour, be disturbed by anyone or even hear a pin drop yet still be just a 10 minute drive to the centre of Polis and all its amenities then this is the place for you.The stone built villa, brand new in 2014 perfectly combines modern features and conveniences with traditional charm and quality which is sure to make it one of the most desired holiday villas in the area. The villa is set in substantial grounds and has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, (en-suite to master), sleeping 6 (one or two infants extra permitted).

It has a 10m x 5m private swimming pool with roman steps (can be heated for a supplement), separate children's splash pool, full air-conditioning and TV to each bedroom, Smart TV in lounge (English channels) with Satellite & DVD, washing machine, dishwasher an open fire (for those cooler off-season evenings) large stone built BBQ, a well-manicured lawn area for children to play, table tennis (ping-pong), sauna, wireless internet and more. The setting is both serene and spectacular with the rolling hills of the nearby villages and the not too distant sea at Latchi giving views you'll remember forever.

Pelathousa village is more of a small hamlet but Polis centre is just 5km away from 'The Lost castle' and where you will find a taste of the real Cyprus. With its many restaurants, central square, supermarkets and other amenities it really is the best of both worlds. Latchi Beach and Marina are just a further 5 minutes drive away where you can sample local fish, hire a boat, do watersports or just relax on the soft golden sand.Peristerona village (6km) is nearby With its mini-market selling fresh (natural) organic produce, coffee shops and friendly locals. Peristerona is primarily an agricultural village producing citrus-fruit vegetables, cereals, olives and almonds. The name Peristerona derives from the Greek word for dove or pigeon (peristeri). The village of Steni (8km) provides a further choice of coffee shop and traditional taverna for dining during the day or in the evening.

In Lysos (5km) you will find a renowned hotel (Paradisos Hills) with excellent restaurant, a further taverna, and a few other shops. Activities in Lysos include horse riding, clay pigeon shooting and many walks and mountain bike trails for those who like to be active. The area around the villa is always a very green due to the lush vegetation. The smell of the pine trees add to the atmosphere with views that are hard to beat anywhere in the world. It all looks particularly special in winter and spring months and is ideal for photographers, artists and those who like to walk and even hike. Other attractions in the area are the famous 'Museum of Arsinoe' showcasing a stunning collection of Byzantine artefacts.

After accessing the villa's grounds by large electronically operated iron gates and long driveway (plenty parking), the villa's front door opens into a large airy open plan space comprising the lounge, inside dining area and kitchen. The cool and comfortable lounge is furnished with 2 large leather sofa's and matching chair facing the Flat Screen Smart TV with Satellite & DVD player. There is further benefit of a Sound bar with USB, SD card, Bluetooth, Radio and TV connection to assist with your entertainment. The centrepiece is an open log fire for those who wish to take advantage of some daytime sunshine and a cosy evening atmosphere in cooler winter months. Views from the lounge are across the private pool and out to Sea.The adjacent dining/breakfasting kitchen is equipped with a sturdy wooden table and eight chairs. The fully equipped kitchen has modern appliances including, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, gas hob and extractor hood, microwave, filter coffee maker and many other extras. Patio doors from the kitchen open out onto the terrace which hosts another table and chairs seating 8 and on to the beautifully kept enclosed garden and private pool area.A nice airflow is maintained by keeping the front door and patio doors open at the same time allowing comfortable temperatures even in the height of summer. Fly-screens are fitted throughout to assist with this. Making up the ground floor is a lovely double bedroom. The adjacent bathroom with shower over makes this a self-contained area for those who do not wish to climb stairs.

Moving upstairs and you will find a further 2 bedrooms accessed from an airy landing and a large balcony with amazing views. The master bedroom is a double bedroom. The bedroom further benefits from an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is a twin bedroom and also has an adjacent shower room. Both upstairs bedrooms share a long L-shaped balcony facing the beautiful countryside and then Mediterranean Sea at Latchi. The main section of the balcony contains a sofa set, hammock and BBQ/Fire pit for atmosphere at all times. The villa has air-conditioned bedrooms, also with large fitted wardrobes and blackout blinds in each. Wi-Fi connection is included in the rental price. A travel cot and highchair are supplied free of charge on request. Other extras such as hairdryer, pool towels, books and games are also provided.

The extensive private grounds and beautifully kept gardens of 'The Lost Castle' are accessed through a set of remote controlled iron gates that lead up the long private driveway. There is ample parking at the rear and side of the house. The outdoor grounds of 'The Lost Castle' really set it apart from others. A large garden area laid to lawn allows for children to play safely. The centrepiece of the holiday villa's grounds however is a very inviting 10m x 5m (widest points) private pool with roman steps and the small children's splash pool next to it.The spacious pool terrace is nicely equipped with large sun loungers that benefit from large overhanging parasols and drinks tables. The pool shower is smartly designed and a further feature of this area. A tall table and 4 stools complete this area for enjoying a pre-dinner apertif at dusk or an evening nightcap. There is also a sauna for guests use when required.**

Overlooking the private pool and outside the patio doors from the lounge/kitchen area there is a long terrace shaded by the balcony above. A table and 6 chairs as well as large Gas BBQ make it the perfect place for alfresco dining and socialising with your party on holiday. A traditional stone built Cypriot BBQ is also provided and the owners will more than happily show you how to use and make the traditional Cyprus Souvla which is a hard to beat mouth-watering taste experience. Most of the outside areas afford spectacular uninterrupted views of the surrounding valley and hillside as well as the Mediterranean Sea. The pretty flowers, shrubs and trees add to the atmosphere, making it the ideal place for relaxing in the sun or shade. Smartly positioned lighting ensures the outside areas can be enjoyed as much in the warm summer evenings as well as in the day time.**Terms apply (please check rates section for details)

The Sauna is available to be used free of charge for 2 hours each day. 15 euros per hour thereafter. (paid locally)

''Fantastic villa! By far the best villa I’ve ever stayed at. Stunning location! The views around the villa I could never get tired of. Latchi boat hire was amazing and was one the highlights of the holiday. The old town restaurant and herb garden were the best restaurants that we went to and also Duomos was great.

As usual your service was 1st class. Locally, Debbie couldn’t do enough for us and was so friendly'

Interaction with guest

Review submitted by Nicholas from Cardiff (Submitted: 28/09/2019) ''The Lost castle was very well presented with everything you might need for your holiday available. Kitchen equipment was plentiful and the outside space was extensive. The location is the most peaceful we have visited in Cyprus. It was literally silent. The views were great. We only ate in Paphos on two occasions but would recommend Ficardo’s restaurant if you are willing to travel that far. The service provided by Lets Rent Online was, once again, first class. Debbie at the Lost Castle was very approachable. The service she provided was excellent. No issues I can think of. ''

Response from the manager Dear Reviewer, Thank you very much for taking the time to give us (and everyone else) this feedback on The Lost Castle. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and agree it is a very special villa and location. We would like to respond about the insects in the pool and some of the other areas that you did not rate as 5 out of 5. Insects are attracted to warm water and this is one of the reasons the owners installed a pool cover for when the pool is not being used. It is very easy to replace but we are aware this was not done during your stay. Everything in the villa is very new and of good quality and the owners and their staff take great care with cleaning which is why each reviewer so far has rated these aspects as 5/5. There are automatic lights by the keybox with easy instructions on the alarm but we understand that after travelling (and at 2am) this is not always the easiest part of the holiday. Its just so other travellers know that we strive for perfection and attention to these details where it is possible. We thank you once more for your comments and for staying at The Lost Castle. Best wishes.

“An amazing Villa with spectacular views!”
