Welcome to Top of the Hill Retreat in Port Albert, minutes North of Goderich, Ontario

Rentals are in Canadian $. High season is between July and August, low season is Nov to April (except the holiday season). In Canadian, our rates range from $295 to $450 Canadian, plus applicable taxes and fees.

An outdoor staircase leads to a private wraparound balcony on the upper apartment level. Impressive views of Lake Huron greet you at every turn.
Inside the Cottage
The inside feels light and airy with an open concept design. A bank of windows lets you watch the changing sky and catch breath-taking sunsets. There’s even a welcome basket for your dog.
The well-equipped kitchen makes mealtime easy whether grabbing a quick bite or prepping for a leisurely dinner.
Cosy up together to watch a movie in HD on Netflix, or take in the ambience of the fireplace. All the seating is comfortable. Quality linens and premium mattresses help you enjoy a deep, restful sleep.
Fresh, cooling breezes off the lake keep the cottage cool with overhead fans for those rare hot days. Central heating warms things up when it gets chilly.
The covered deck means you can lounge outdoors even if it rains. Savour a barbeque dinner under the canopy with the soothing rhythm of the waves as your soundtrack. Play catch on the lawn beside the house.
Enjoy the long evenings in conversation by the campfire. Roast marshmallows and watch for satellites passing through the dark sky.
Private Beach Access
Private access to the uncrowded beach is a short walk down the hill. While most find the incline relatively easy, private-property parking can be arranged at the beach if needed.

If you have any questions or issues, your hosts, June and Keith, are close by to make sure everything runs smoothly. Otherwise, they’ll leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet of this Port Albert paradise.

No tenting other than kids tent which they are welcome to setup.
Friendly dog is welcome. They love a walk on the beach.

Owner's reply: We thank you for your review posted here. Getting feedback from our guests is very important to help us make improvements. The property is as advertised, an apartment on the second floor. If this was thought to be the whole house, at a low price, I can understand your disappointment. In the last eight years we put in a new drilled well, updated the plumbing and installed an on demand tank less water heater. The water is not scalding hot, a safety factor. Cooking is with an Induction cook top, combination microwave convection oven, slow cooker and of course a large BBQ.

- Why can't I call Keith (the owner) before booking?
You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.
If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.
- How do damage deposits work?
In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

- How do I pay the balance of my holiday?
You can pay the remaining balance of your holiday at any point. Simply go to Manage my holiday booking and click Pay now.
We’ll automatically charge the balance payment to the same payment method 10 days before it’s due. Go to Manage my holiday booking to see when the payment will be taken.
- How can I retract my booking request?
You’ll need to contact Keith (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.
- How do I cancel my booking?
Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.
- How do I edit my booking?
You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Keith (the owner) a message.
If Keith (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
