Description

You will have exclusive use of this Carp Fishing Lake and it's facilities for the duration of your holiday. Situated in a small hamlet of Barbret, Brittany, this pretty cabin is just a mile and a half outside the market town of Retiers. Here, as well as the popular weekly market each Saturday morning, you will find a supermarket, 3 bakers, a Post Office, 3 banks, a butchery/charcuterie, a patisserie, a newsagent, a wine merchant, 1 florist and 2 pharmacies, as well as several bars, restaurants and a petrol station.

This is an offer of exclusive use of a 100 year old one acre well stocked lake set in the Brittany countryside. The lake has been completely drained, cleaned and dug to depths of up to 3 meters to the top end, it has an average depth of 1.5 meters approx. There is a varied selection of mirror and common carp, mainly in the 30-55lb range, Catfish 80lb; there are also tench to 8lb, bream, roach, perch and a couple of pike to about 15lb. Due to the size and strength of our fish you must be an experienced angler. The whole area is surrounded by trees and verdant foliage providing a perfect canopy around the clean water of the lake.

The far end has been cultivated and provides a perfect place to rest after a days fishing, with BBQ and firepit area where you can sit, eat and drink looking over the fields watching the sunset or enjoy a game of pool or darts.

The cabin is located on the bank of the lake and consists of 2 bedrooms (1 x twin bed and 1 x set of bunk beds) plus a sofabed to the lounge area, there is also a travel cot if needed, a fully equipped kitchen and a shower room. The cabin has a comfortable lounge area which hosts wi-fi and satellite tv showing British channels.

There is a solar heated swimming pool 8 x 4 metres with a overall depth of 1.2 metres.

If you do not want to cook for yourself we can offer you a small home cooked menu which is delivered to you at the cabin or lakeside. We can also collect anything you require from the town.

Airport pick up and drop off services are available from Rennes, Dinard or Nantes at a nominal extra cost.

Various baits can be purchased at the lake.

For accompanying guests this is a beautiful place to rest and relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of the surrounding countryside. There is a play area with large climbing frame, slide, swing and trampoline for the children if needed.

Getting around

We do recommend that you bring you car, however, it is not essential, Kate and Chris are on hand to drive you to any local attraction/shops etc, for a nominal fee.

Interaction with guest

Chris or Kate will be on site to at all times and are on hand if needed. They will welcome you to the Lake and walk you through the safety policies and the rules of the lake. There is a brochure in the cabin containing emergency numbers, essential information and information on the surrounding area including restaurants and places of interest.

There are fishing rules which will be sent to you nearer your holiday - please note that only freezer baits are to be used on the lake (we sell bait on site if required) and no barbed hooks.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
