Taire du Grel, Domme... Gites with a difference!

The cottage is set in the heart of the most majestic part of the Dordogne, in a quiet off road location, just outside of the hill top Bastille town of Domme, and 15 minutes from the medieval city of Sarlat.

The cottage has a private garden with a sweeping stone staircase leading to a large balcony with views across the forest covered valley. There is a large shared swimming pool with a seating and sunbathing area, and sun shades.

Enter from the balcony into the large open plan kitchen, dining, living area. The quirky interior incorporates wooden beams and stonework, with a bright and fresh feeling. The traditional thick stone walls keep it cool in summer and warm in winter, and the faux wood burning stove is powered by gas, giving all of the ambience without the hassle (instant start, no smoke or dust, no lugging logs around).

Take the door beyond the living area into a charming twin bedroom with shabby chic furniture and bathroom. The rustic wooden staircase in the dining area leads to a separate bathroom, and a large, chic master bedroom.

Free WIFI, English satellite TV, French TV, DVD player. Dogs welcome.

On-site activities available (Canoes/Kayaks/Climbing/Archery - at our discretion, and at your own risk). Numerous nearby activities also available.

Getting around

You need a vehicle to make to most of this stay, Taxis are very expensive and not easy to book, and busses are non-existent! You can walk to Domme from the gite in 15-20 minutes, where you will find restaurants, bars and tourist shops. For a more scenic route walk the track through the forest to see some lovely views (25-30 mins to Domme). We have bicycles for our guests to use for a small fee to cover maintenance. We also have a booklet of nearby walking and cycling routes, a child seat and a bike rack that attaches to a tow bar (max 3 bikes).

Interaction with guest

We live next door so if you need anything during your stay we are happy to help, provide information and give recommendations, etc. We will be there when you arrive to show you around, and there is a welcome booklet in the gite explaining everything you need to know, with information about local attractions, activities, restaurants etc. Unless you approach us, we will leave you to enjoy your holiday in peace.

How do damage deposits work?
