Description

Rising Sun guest house is a beautiful restored Nova Scotia vacation home. Carefully renovated, the house combines old world character with a coastal inspired modern style.

The main floor of this stylish vacation rental has a tasteful living room with a propane fireplace and comfortable chairs. There is a fully equipped kitchen that is excellent for entertaining with gourmet cookware and an en suite dining room with a view of the bay and a French door that leads into the garden. Also downstairs is a small workspace and a 2-piece powder room.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, laundry facilities and a four-piece bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower. With a view of the bay, the master bedroom is simply furnished with a classic design, queen-size bed, side tables, reading chair and closet. The guest room features two standard size twin beds, a side table, and a dresser. Both rooms have closets.

Clean lines, muted colours inspired by the surroundings and carefully selected pieces all add to the casual charm of this seaside guest house.

Surrounded by wildflowers, the garden is a restful retreat. Enjoy your morning coffee watching the sun rise over the bay. Stroll down the winding pathway to the rocky (not sandy) shoreline to relax by the ocean. Huge granite boulders shaped by tide and time are the perfect backdrop for a day on the water. Put out a towel and sunbathe; walk along the shore; spot seals playing in peaceful Jordan Bay. For those of you who like to swim, there is an excellent sheltered swimming area just off the rocks.

There is something about the salt air that promotes a peaceful, unhurried existence, where your troubles melt away and are replaced with easy problems like which beach to visit next, or what to have for lunch.

So sit back and relax! Coastal living couldn't be better!

Response from the manager Dear John, I am really sorry that that your vacation was spoiled by mosquitoes. I did receive a review in mid July (2 weeks before your stay) from a guest who stayed in early June commenting on the mosquitoes, but since the mosquito population changes every day and the weather was drying up, I thought that they were dying off and would not be a problem for future guests. Had I know/thought otherwise I would most certainly have mentioned something to you. I will be discussing this issue with the homeowner to see if there is anything we can do to minimize the mosquito population. They breed in standing water, so we will be reviewing the landscaping to make sure that there are no obvious breeding grounds. I am sorry that your week at the guest house was not perfect. I am pleased that you were able to enjoy the beautiful beaches, and picturesque towns in the area. Sincerely, Helen

Why can't I call the property manager before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send the property manager a message.

If the property manager agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
