Heron Now is a comfortable bayfront vacation home uniquely situated to maximize your enjoyment of St George Island, Florida –a world class beach, birding, fishing , and naturalist destination. Heron Now has been creating life time memories for our guests for over 15 years.

Heron Now offers the best of both the bay and the gulf. Sitting on the edge of a vibrant wetland habitat, the home overlooks a panorama of St George Sound. One block in the other direction, you have a nationally ranked gulf beach via easy public access.

Nestled in a stand of pine trees, Heron Now has a private setting surrounded by a wonderful wildlife habitat full of herons, egrets, osprey, marsh hawks, eagles, swallow tail kites, owls, woodpeckers, warblers, and more. A large deck wraps around the bay side of the house providing a variety of vantage points ( sunny/shady, breezy/ calm) to enjoy the unparalled vista and wildlife activity. The large sliding picture windows and cathedral windows bring the outside world into the home with wonderful views from the living room, dining room, and even the kitchen.

But even the most die hard couch potato will be tempted to give up the leather couches, ceiling fans ( central AC as well), and deck chairs to explore what awaits just outside the front door. You can walk or paddle the bayside world of the Apalachicola Estuarine Research Reserve with one mile of undeveloped bayshore waterfront ( sandy bay beaches, marsh ponds and upland forest). Or you can walk across to the spacious uncrowded gulf beach for playing in the waves, fishing in surf, lounging among sand castles, and searching for shells.

While you could spend your entire vacation at Heron Now without getting back into your car after arriving, there are some great places nearby worth driving to. Heron Now is a great base for exploring other world class eco-destinations such as St George Island State Park, St Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, Apalachicola National Forest, Tates Hell State Forest, and St Marks NWR.

Too much nature for you? Those guests needing some city life can visit nearby Apalachicola and find fine restaurants, historic Victorian homes, antique shops, art galleries, local theater, and several museums.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Edward (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
