The Old Barns originally formed part of an old dairy farm and is surrounded by stunning English countryside. It is ideally located for exploring the outstanding countryside, wildlife and picturesque local villages and hamlets. Stockbridge is only 5 miles away with fantastic restaurants and shops, Horsebridge is a short stroll down the Test Way in one direction and Mottisfont in the other direction. The wonderful Cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury and the New Forest National Park are less than 30 minutes by car.

The Old Barns offers a luxurious romantic retreat with many fine restaurants and pubs in the area. An idyllic place in which to relax and unwind, the cottage is well equipped for your stay.

With the River Test on your doorstep the area is renowned for its country pursuits and fine walks.

The Old Barns contains 4 luxury, one bedroom cottages, each with a south facing balcony, well equipped kitchen and period bathroom. Additional beds can be made available subject to availability by prior arrangement (for a small additional cost) and well behaved dogs are accepted by prior arrangement (for a small additional cost).

Welcome to Damson Cottage (the largest of the 4 cottages) with triple aspect windows, south facing balcony and French doors from the large rustic bedroom.

Please note that from the beginning of 2018 until the end of March 2018 we are carrying out building works on our other barn and there maybe some noise and building materials. Please feel free to ask about the works to determine if you feel it will effect the enjoyment of your stay.

Although the cottage is designed for adults and only contain a king sized or double bed, additional beds for children may be provided at a small additional cost, subject to availability and by prior arrangement. Please note the property has a balcony and stairs (and outside the pond areas are not fenced off).

The Old Barns is a beautifully converted timber barn in the heart of the Test Valley with the Test Way on our doorstep it is the ideal country retreat. Luxury rustic accommodation within a secluded courtyard with south facing balcony for alfresco dining.

We have 4 cottages for rental, so please enquire if you have a group of friends or family that you would like to get together or if you are not sure which cottage would most suit your needs. All cottages are similar in style and design. Damson and Willow Cottage are slightly larger than Elderberry and Bramble. All the cottages are upside down accommodation taking full advantage of the views and all the cottages can be linked via the balconies for larger groups.

Ground Floor:
A large entrance hall with coat hooks and plenty of room for shoes etc.

Large rustic king size bedroom with French doors opening out tot he surrounding land.
The bed is a leather king size bed with Egyptian cotton bed linen, matching bedside tables, dressing table & chair, wardrobe, luggage rack, hair dryer, shaver adaptor, lamps, iron and ironing board.

Period Bathroom with large double ended roll top bath with a handheld shower attachment, white suite and fresh towels and heated towel rail.

First Floor:
Upstairs is light and airy with vaulted beamed ceilings and a large triple aspect windows taking full advantage of the views. The South facing windows open up onto a balcony area with table and chairs for alfresco dining.

Open plan lounge/kitchen/diner - Damson cottage has a spectacular marble dining table and 6 dining chairs, 2 large leather sofas, Free Sat TV, DVD, CD, Stereo. The kitchens are well equipped consisting of a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, oven, grill, hob, sink, waste disposal and a good assortment of crockery and cooking utensils.

Linen, towels, T-towels, bathmat, oven gloves, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, dishcloth, tea, coffee, sugar all provided. We normally also provide milk and fresh eggs from our eggs (subject to chickens laying).

There is a utility room next to Damson Cottage with a washing machine available for use by guests.

The Old Barns is set in a secluded courtyard within 2 acres of paddock. Within the courtyard offers plenty of parking, a south facing patio with tables and chairs, a large fish pond and gravelled garden area.

The surrounding paddocks contain another pond area and plenty of wildlife - we regularly see rabbits, wild birds, pheasants, partridge, woodpeckers and insects. The South paddock is gated off as it is home to our dog and our chickens who can be seen often hopping over the gate and having an explore around the area.

With the Test Way on our doorstep (44 mile track for walking, cycling and riding) it gives you access to some of the most beautiful English countryside and friendly local pubs that are dog and child friendly.

I stayed in this cottage with my husband for a long weekend. The cottage was well furnished and we enjoyed the balcony overlooking the courtyard. There are several good pubs within walking distance, and great restaurants and pubs a short drive away in Stockbridge. There's loads to do locally and lovely countrysideoutside the front door. Driving to Lyndhurst in the New Forest takes about 35 minutes.

“Excellent accommodation in a tranquil setting”

A short stay at The Old Barns on a fly fishing experience on river Test. Ideally situated for my fishing and also for my wife to visit local towns and villages. Two pubs that do excellent food can be walked to along the Test Way. This footpath is very near to The Old Barns.
