A Joia Da Coroa is a stylish one bedroom cottage nestled in the hills outside Santo Estevao , Nr Tavira. It is a great place to unwind either in the summer or winter, all amenities are exclusive to the cottage and not shared by anyone else . They include a swimming pool, a hot tub, a large garden punctuated by a variety of trees , olives, citrus, almonds and figs. There is a pergola under which are two hammocks for total relaxation and area for playing boules and badminton. The cottage has free wifi, a woodburner for cosy winter nights and Internet tv which provides the very latest films, box sets, sports channels and the regular tv channels. You enter the cottage via a side door into the airy good size kitchen . The kitchen is fitted with granite worksurfaces and modern appliances, a fridge/freezer, washing machine, cooker and hob and a Nespresso coffee machine. There is a table and chairs for eating and a small wood burner for cosy winter nights. From the kitchen is the hallway which leads to a fully tiled modern shower room. Further along the hallway is the bright high ceilinged living room which is tastefully decorated and has good views of the garden and beyond , great for watching the sunrise.. The bedroom has a king size bed, air conditioning and a small ensuite cloakroom. Immediately outside the living room is a seating area good for morning coffee or some afternoon shade. Other outdoor space include a barbecue and pizza oven area with a table and chairs , a shaded seating and dining area, the pool with loungers and a further seating/eating area and the decked area with the hot tub and views of the sea.

We currently use a transfer company that charges 35 euros each way from the airport and local trips to Tavira and Fuseta cost approx. 14 euros each way, so,if you don't want to worry about hiring a car this could be an alternative .

The village of Santo Estevao has a restaurant , pharmacy ,bar and mini supermarket all within walking distance .

The hamlet of Butoque has a bar and a mini market again reachable on foot.

The town of Tavira is only a short drive away with its " colonial" style buildings, small castle and gardens, and innumerable places to eat and drink to cater for all tastes.

Recreation of all types are available nearby, horse riding, tennis .golf and all types of water sports. There is easy access to beaches at Fuseta,barril or Tavira.

Beach towels and parasol provided.along with cool bags for picnics.

“Disappointing due to very bad weather”

Hosts great could not be more helpful in every way . This venue NEEDS a car. Cottage ok very clean and fully equipped. When trapped in for three weeks (due to weather) a more comfortable sofa would be good. One other comment this property is well OVER priced for the off season and the area. Lots of great small restrauants in the area and very friendly local people.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind words about us as hosts. The period of your stay was most unfortunate with storm Emma, Felix and Giselle all lashing Portugal with rain and high winds on their way to do the same in Northern Europe, during such a short period and with such strength. Clearly these prevented you using the pool, hot tub and hammocks, restricted your usage of the BBQ for alfresco dining and the full enjoyment of the gardens. Fortunately the TV package with full English Channels and Sky and Bt sports kept you entertained for 14-16 hours a day on those days you couldn't venture out. With that in mind I would venture that any sofa would start to become tiresome after such prolonged usage. Pleasingly the guests who arrived after you had better weather and have requested to come back both later in the year and next year. Good luck with your next bookings and I hope you get better weather wherever it may be.

“Privacy without isolation”

After finding the villa on TripAdvisor, I have to say the pictures online really do not do the villa justice. Selecting our dates and booking with Adrian and Suzanne was very easy and Adrian was very communicative. When we arrived Adrian and Suzanne made us both feel very welcome and even set us up with some basic groceries. We were concerned about the villa being isolated but The villa itself is nestled in amongst four villas but has it's own private gardens, pools and outside areas. However despite being one of four villas we didn't hear a peep from anyone else. Inside there was a very well equipped kitchen and the internet TV box in the lounge area was a godsend on the rainy day we had. The bedroom was very spacious while the whole house was nicely decorated. The villa just seemed to have a good flow to it. Outside the gardens and orchard are just beautiful. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean and the outside Lounging or dining area were both perfect. You definitely need a car and the local village really doesn't have much however the villa is enough of its own little paradise for you to stay and enjoy. Definitely try to book again.

Stayed at the cottage in September and what a great find it was,I must admit that the photos do not do the cottage justice at all, it is far more beautiful in real. It was everything we wanted and more, with the beautiful sea views lovely garden and pool, you really feel like your in your own little paradise it as all the amenities you would need, and is finished to a very high standard .Adrian & Suzanne were amazing, they welcomed us, and were on hand when we needed anything .its very close to local supermarkets,restaurants and shopping centres. Just one last thing to add, we will definitely be coming back.
