Welcome!

Adega cottage has been recently renovated from a 300 year old derelict wine and olive processing mill into comfortable rustic accommodation, retaining the character and charm of a bygone era. The old stone walls and Adega have been restored and integrated into a modern living space, offering a well equipped kitchen, modern shower room, double bedroom, cosy sitting room with wood burner for the winter months. The kitchen area is a traditional 'Portuguese kitchen', providing a fantastic experience to cook in a wood-fired brick oven and barbeque area. There is also a conventional oven, modern cooking facilities and a fridge freezer for convenience. Enjoy a walk through our olive groves and help yourself to the available fruits, figs, lemons etc.

Outside the cottage there is a private patio and garden area to enjoy a glass of wine or a morning coffee. The cottage also provides washing machine facilities & free WIFI. We offer free bicycles to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and near by river beaches.

Getting around

A car is advised to explore the area. However, we have bikes at the cottage free for our guests use and for getting to a nearby small supermarket/cafe (4km) from the cottage. We can by private arrangement and small fee collect guests from Tomar train station or take a taxi. Tomar station can easily be reached via connections from Lisbon airport.

Interaction with guest

We are available to hand over keys to the cottage when guests first arrive, and are very flexible with check in times. We totally respect our guests privacy, but are also available to assist with any advice, recommendations or help that guests may need. Our guests are left with telephone contacts, or they can call by our house which is close by for any assistance 24/7. It is very important to us that our guests feel comfortable and enjoy their stay.

“Two wonderful weeks at Adega Cottage”

The cottage is beautiful and gardens exceeded the pictures. The hosts, Stephanie and Pat were very warm, friendly, welcoming and helped us when needed but gave us our privacy. Petfect for couples ☺

“A most enjoyable stay”

We stayed at Adeja Cottage for a total of 5 nights. Myself and my partner were in the cottage and my teenage daughter and her friend were out in the camper van at the bottom of the garden. The cottage is as per all the pictures, beautiful and immaculately clean. The cottage was quite difficult to find in the dark as we had an evening flight. The sat-nav got us very close and we eventually found it but it is remote. This was fine for us though. The owners were lovely and stayed completely out of the way despite living in the cottage across the driveway and also despite us having to cross the garden to the pool and the camper van. They never bothered us at all but were there to give help and advise if we needed by simply knocking on the door. Our friends have a holiday home nearby and they visited and came to the pool and again, the owners were fine with this. The property is beautiful, the bedroom, bathroom and small lounge are all together and the kitchen is accessed from a different outside door. This didn't cause us any problem but is a little odd when you go to get your early morning cup of tea, going outside for it was a little different. The grounds are lovely too, the pool is a little way from the cottage and is only small but totally sufficient for the number of people the house and camper can accommodate. The weather in August was beautiful, far hotter than I expected although the evenings were sometimes cool. We spent a lot of time at the nearby Lago Azul, hiring a boat, swimming and eating in the lakeside cafe/restaurant. The lake is beautiful and the water very warm. We had an amazing time all round and drove on from the cottage to the Algarve for a few more nights stay. If I had any complaint whatsoever it would be regarding the camper van. It is way down the cobbled garden path and although this didn't cause a problem, the girls were a little further away than I liked. Compared to the cottage, I thought the camper van was a little on the expensive side as it was almost as much per night as the main accommodation. All in all a fab stay and we would definitely recommend and use ourselves again.

We had an amazing holiday. The cottage was beautifully furnished and once the log burners were alight we were very comfortable. Quiet location, but everything (shops etc) was approximately 15 minutes drive. The scenery was just breath taking. Our hosts Stephanie and Patrick were very helpful. We will definitely be returning.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Stephanie (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
