Exceptionally spacious, recently renovated apartment with a lift in the heart of the historic Templar City of Tomar! The property has 3 large bedrooms, two kingsize and one twin room with plenty of storage. The largest bedroom is ensuite and has a balcony which overlooks the main street in the town with a small mini market on the ground floor of the apartment block. Ideal for buying bread and pastries which are cooked fresh every morning. There is a spacious lounge/dining room with a "real" fire perfect for the cooler months. There is seating for six people with satellite TV showing a wide variety of programmes. The floors are laid with beautiful wooden parquet flooring which adds character to the apartment. All the furniture is high quality solid oak which again adds a bit of luxury to the property.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher. It also has a coffee machine, toaster, microwave oven and electric hob/oven as well as all the utensils necessary to make the apartment feel like a "home from home".

There are two full bathrooms, one with a jacuzzi bath and shower the other is a shower only.

The balcony has tables and chairs for six, perfect for enjoying a cold glass of Vino Verde on those beautiful, warm evenings. It is also overlooking the main street which hosts the many festivals that take place throughout the year. The Festa dos Tabuleiros takes place every four years with the next one due in July 2019. The main parade passes directly in front of the property making the balcony one of the best places in Tomar to watch it. Vista Castelo is the only holiday apartment along this route which makes it a very sought after location.

The apartment is overlooked by the historic Convento de Cristo which is beautifully illuminated at night and creates the most magical outlook ideal for a romantic getaway or an exciting family holiday. The castle was built by Gualdim Pias the fourth Grand Master of the Order of the Knights Templars and founder of the city of Tomar.

There are various restaurants and bars all within easy walking distance from the property as well as a public swimming pool and tennis courts which are approximately 5 minutes by car. The historical centre lies on the river Nabao, perfect for an evening stroll on a warm summers evening. If you're feeling adventurous, hire a canoe or pedalo and explore the river first hand.

There is a lift to the apartment but this is accessed via a small flight of six steps, which may not be suitable for all wheelchair users. Other than that, the apartment is all on one level.

The district of Santarém is a relatively undiscovered gem of Central Portugal. The region has something to suit everyone from beautiful Castles and Churches to amazing walks with stunning vistas. It is also a food lover's heaven with fantastic Portuguese food served everywhere you go which is exceptional value for money. A list of recommended restaurants and cafés is situated in the apartment but really this is a non exhaustive list as we have never had a disappointing experience in any of the places we have visited.

Even though this property is in the heart of the historical centre, it also offers a peaceful, relaxing place to put your feet up after a busy day exploring.

We are also able to provide a personal tour guide of the city should you require at an additional cost to be agreed with my property manager. Take advantage of having your own personal guided tour at your own pace! Vista Castelo is the only local property that offers this service!!!!

Getting around

I would recommend hiring a car to be able to get the most our of your trip, however, this is not essential as there are excellent rail links to all the major towns and cities. The train station is only a 500 metre walk from the apartment. There are also limited bus routes within the town and to the smaller villages. The apartment is situated in the heart of the historic centre of Tomar, therefore everything is available within a short walk from the property. Restaurants and bars are all within walking distance.

Interaction with guest

Although I do not live in Tomar, I have an agent acting on my behalf and who lives nearby. They will be available to meet you at the start of your holiday to hand over the keys and provide you with a "Welcome" tour of the apartment. All I ask is that you telephone the contact with an estimated time of arrival. I will pass contact details of the agent upon completion of your booking. House rules

Smoking is only allowed outside on the balcony with the windows and doors closed. Any smoking inside the apartment will result in the loss of your deposit. We have invested in high quality furnishings and therefore we would like to preserve and keep them fresh for ALL guests smoking and non-smoking. Thank you.

Well behaved pets are very welcome but they are not permitted on the furniture or beds. There is an additional cost of 5 Euros/night or 25 Euros per week per booking.

How do damage deposits work?
