Welcome to Rose Cottage on the Magical Island of Vinalhaven, Maine.

Ditch your car keys and discover scenic Island Living on foot or bicycle from Rose Cottage, our 1887 CHARMING Victorian and recently renovated and attached Rose Ell.

Within walking distance to Main St, the Library, local wharves, ocean front and the Land Trust. We offer a spacious, historic, tastefully decorated, 1 bedroom/sitting room,kitchen, 1 bathroom Ell apartment that can accommodate up to two adults comfortably.

The space:

The eat-in kitchenette with the original Bead Board and iron sink is fully applianced in the Rose Ell. The bathroom even has a rare 'Maids' claw foot tub with its original English brass shower surround.

All rooms are bright, cheerful and tastefully furnished with antiques and hand painted finishes.

The Rose Ell has a separate entrance and a plant decorated porch to enjoy.

Getting around

Bicycles are available to rent down in the village which is a short walk away and also Kayaks at the Tidewater Motel. A manual drive pickup is available at $65.00 a day plus gasoline. The necessary driving license and insurance documentation will need to be provided before you reserve the truck. Otherwise most everything is located a short walk away unless you want to explore or go across to North Haven. Then a vehicle will be needed.

Interaction with guest

Owner is on property. She is helpful but not intrusive. Property has maps and brochures for many sites on the Island. Owner can put you in touch with boat tour operators/taxi service/restaurants/kayak and bicycle rentals and can personally accommodate pick up at ferry.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
