Conveniently located on Sydney's north west doorstep in the "lowlands" region of the upper Hawkesbury Valley - a little pocket of paradise only 4 minutes drive from Windsor and just over a 1 hour drive from the Sydney city centre.

The surrounding area is a flat rural picturesque patchwork of citrus orchards, small agricultural farms, turf farms, equestrian stud farms and polo fields.

Cornwallis House is a grand and charming two storey Queenslander style house blending with its surroundings perfectly. The interior is contemporary and stylish, creating an atmosphere of elegant comfort and total relaxation.

This house provides guests with a level of comfort, space, privacy and relaxation unmatched in the area.

ENTERTAINING:

Cornwallis House was designed with entertaining in mind. There are two levels of outdoor space, upstairs and downstairs, with multiple outdoor settings and places to relax and dine outdoors. It's perfect for small groups who like to stay in and cook for themselves, spending quality time together relaxing with a few drinks over long lazy meals.

We allow guests to invite extra family or friends to visit during their stay, however there are limits and venue hire fees may apply, depending on the numbers and your requirements. Please ask us about this when you enquire, and remember that honesty is the best policy.

INDOOR ENTERTAINMENT:

On the days when the weather is not so good you'll find shelves of new paperback novels, stacks of magazines, over 200 DVDs to watch or CD's to listen to, a Wii games console with adult & childrens games, as well as a large variety of board games & card games to play, as well as a full size table tennis in the large multi purpose room downstairs.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:

When you're feeling active we have 8 adult and 2 childrens bikes with helmets for you to use. You can choose to go for a ride along the quiet country lanes exploring the Cornwallis "lowlands" area, or you could go for a relatively flat ride into town Windsor along a new bike path, where you'll find an ice cream shop, an old fashioned lolly shop plus lots of cafes, restaurants, pizzerias, pubs, and shops.

HAPPY KIDS, HAPPY PARENTS, HAPPY HOLIDAY.....

Our guests tell us how glorious it is not to hear their children say the dreaded 2 words..."I'm bored". There's always something to keep them happy and occupied. There is a small cubby house for younger children, acres of grounds and lawn for outdoor games such as volleyball, cricket, baseball, soccer, badminton, croquet and boules. We also have an orchard full of orange trees to pick the fruit from in season. In summer we have an inflatable water slide for the toddlers see image in the photo gallery and two "slip n slides". We also have loads of childrens DVDs and board games and toys for babies and younger children. There's loads of child and teenage friendly places and activities in the area.

Our proximity to the city means it is easily accessible for weekend stays. You can be at Cornwallis in a ONE HOUR DRIVE from just about anywhere in Sydney.

So, instead of checking out at 11:00 a.m., on Sunday mornings, as you would with most other accommodation properties, why not stretch your break further in the Hawkesbury by staying until late on your last night Sunday, OR, better still, have a bonus extra night and check out the Monday morning, at no extra cost.

Getting around

You can walk the 4km from Cornwallis House into Windsor town centre in about 30 minutes, or ride a pushbike in less time. The drive into town by car only takes about 4 minutes along a very quiet road. Most of our guests have their own cars during their stay, however if some wanted to catch a train to the local railway station in Windsor it's easy to get a taxi to the house from there.

Interaction with guest

Throughout your planning and booking process please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to do a site inspection visit. If having a wedding at the house you we can assist with making the house available for appointments for your suppliers, such as caterers, photographers, celebrants etc. On the day of check in we will meet you at a pre-arranged time and run you through how things work and where things are located. If using the dinghy we need an extra 20 minutes or so to explain about the boat, motor and river conditions. Please note - we don't have a jetty or boat ramp, so only watercraft that can be carried (such as canoes, kayaks or dinghy) can be launched from the riverbank.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Alannah (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
