Description

Salutations from this sunlit, solar powered house with mountain views! We are little over a mile to the village green/Woodstock central! Four bedrooms (two master suites) sleep eight comfortably, with one king bed, two queens and two twin beds (ACs in each bedroom in the summer). Two and a half bathrooms. An all glass solarium, skylights, and Solatubes (built in prism lights) let the sun shine in. Two wood burning stoves warm the entire house (there is central heating as well), while a fully-equipped kitchen is ready for you to make your own home cooked meals. French doors lead to a pergola, a Weber gas grill and fire pit to enjoy our half acre of nature and the view of Mount Overlook. Every season has visual interest, including spring and summer lush blooming, fall foliage and winter snow covered trees and mountains. The house has three levels, but very few steps up and down with a very open feel. The area is surrounded by area swimming holes, hiking trails, skiing, golfing, and the food, music and art Woodstock is known for.

This house has a small carbon footprint with solar power, Solatubes (solar/sun tube prismatic lighting) and two wood-burning stoves. In Brooklyn, we recycle, compost and do as much as we can in a rental apartment. When we saw the solar panels and all the special environmentally-friendly features of this house, we were really attracted to it. That and the beautiful mountain view and all the fruit trees and songbirds in the yard. There's lots of hiking around, but even a short hike just up the road and are actually kid and dog friendly.

This house is close enough to the Village of Woodstock to enjoy all that it has to offer, but just set outside of the scene (a little over a mile) so that you can relax and just be. That was important for us. Before we bought, we stayed at a lot of places and the ones IN the scene were sometimes too loud and not relaxing enough. We have our home in the City for that!

Woodstock has a flavorful culture with lots of food, festivals and special shops. There are drum circles every weekend. There's food, film and music festivals. Some of us are vegetarians and Woodstock and many of the surrounding areas are very vegetarian-friendly.

You'll love the year-round activities of Woodstock's flavorful culture of food (very veg and vegan friendly), festivals and special shops. The Trailways bus will take you from NYC and drop you off around the corner from our house! There's great hiking within walking distance. Nearby Uptown Kingston (about 8 miles) is a historical wonderland and a strong art community with many festivals, galleries and restaurants. Saugerties (featuring HITS Horse Shows in the Sun) is an easy ride about 10 miles away. Phonecia is also close by WHERE YOU CAN GO TUBING DOWN THE ESOPUS. The house is central to skiing and snow tubing at Hunter Mountain (35 mins), Belleayre Mountain (35 mins) and Ski Windham (50 mins). We're a mile from Woodstock Playhouse & Cucina, half mile from Maverick Concerts, Big Deep Swimming Hole, Woodstock Film Festival, The Garlic Festival, Art Shows, near skiing, waterfalls, and so much more to sight-see, adventure, recharge or relax. We hope you'll enjoy our house as much as we do!

Getting around

The Trailways bus to Woodstock will drop you off around the corner from our house, just one stop before Woodstock Village. It's a mile to the village, so walking is possible, but having a car is recommended to really enjoy the sights around Woodstock and the rest of the Catskills.

House rules

There is no smoking allowed in the house or on the deck. Children are welcome, but we are not baby proof. Gates/guards are be provided to block off stairs. Board games and some children's books are available. Chalkboard on the back of the door in the kids' room. Pets by pre-approval only (well-behaved & fully leash-trained/housebroken). Our pets (including a cat) have come to stay at our house. The home is cleaned before and after every Guest, but there is no guarantee that it's allergy-free.

How do damage deposits work?
