What is Toshi Apartments?

Toshi Apartments offers entirely private 1 to 5 bedroom apartments in New York, NY. All apartments are fully furnished with full/queen size beds, Internet connection, plasma TV with cable, and basic kitchenware. You can rent any of the apartments for 1* night up to 2 years.

We are not a traditional hotel in the sense that our accommodations are not located in one building and we do not have a “lobby area” since units are located in residential apartment buildings. Think of us as a vacation rental. Clients that are happy staying with us are typically self-sufficient people who are able to troubleshoot and configure things such as TV, Internet, replace a light bulb, and use a heater/AC on their own. Since we are not located in the same building as our apartments, it takes us longer to send someone from the office to fix non-emergency configuration issues like those listed above.

The Toshi Apartments experience is for travelers looking for a real NYC experience – your neighbors will be actual New Yorkers, not fellow tourists. You might have a mean neighbor and your stairways are probably dirty. Your neighbors will be of all different colors and backgrounds and probably won't like it if you stumble home drunk and cause a ruckus in the stairways at 2am on a Tuesday night.

All apartments have:

* Cleaning service prior to arrival
* 2 towels per bedroom
* Bed sheets, comforters, and pillows
* Internet
* 42" plasma TV with cable
* Gas, electricity, heat & hot/cold water
* Bed sheets, linens, and towels are provided. Please bring your own toiletries.

KEY PICKUP
To check-in and pick up keys if apartment is in WILLIAMSBURG, first come to 808 Driggs Avenue (entrance is around the corner on South 5th) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11211. We are in the direct path from the airport (JFK/LaGuardia) right by the entrance of the Williamsburg Bridge to cross into Manhattan. By car, it should take you approximately 30 minutes from JFK to our office and cost about $45 + tip.

To check-in and pick up keys if apartment is in MANHATTAN, first come to 174 5th Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Streets, New York, NY 10010. We are directly across the road from the Flatiron Building.

ON SITE CHECK-IN
If you prefer, someone can meet you directly at the apartment you booked for $50 between the hours of 3pm - 8pm. To take advantage of our on-site check-in, please let us know as soon as possible.

CHECK IN
Check-in is at our office from 3pm - 8pm, free of charge.

Early check-in is available free of charge before 3pm (11am is the earliest time) - however, you must still pick up the key at our office and car service is not provided. The apartment may not yet be cleaned yet and you must allow our cleaning staff to enter your apartment to tidy up.

If you want the apartment to be cleaned and prepared before 3pm, there is a $25/hour before 3pm charge (1pm check in would cost an additional $50).

LATE CHECK-IN
There is a $25 per hour charge after 8pm (i.e.: 10pm check in will cost an additional $50, 12am check in an additional $100) Late check-ins must be arranged in advance to ensure someone waits for you.

CHECK OUT
Check out is 11am on your day of departure. Just leave all sets of keys on the dining room table, and lock the door behind you. If the door requires a key to lock it, use the key to lock it, then slide it back under the door. There is a $100 charge per set of keys not returned.

HOLIDAY RATES (Dec. 23, 2009 – Jan 2, 2010)
7-night minimum to book, but you do not have to stay the entire 7 nights. The rate is anywhere from 50-200% higher than regular rates. Please inquire.

DISCOUNTS
Unfortunately we do not offer discounts for multi-night stays less than 30 nights. We work very hard to keep our nightly rates competitive! If you stay for 30 nights or more, we would love to discuss monthly rates.

BOOKINGS OF LESS THAN 4 NIGHTS
For bookings of less than 4 nights, we prefer to wait until a week before to confirm – unless it fits our calendar perfectly. Like any other business, our goal is to be profitable. We cannot be profitable if we accept bookings of 1-2 nights, which prevent us from taking larger bookings of 4 nights or more. The average stay is 6 nights.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

* ADDITIONAL SLEEPING MATS: twin size sleeping mats and linens are available for $35/night or $100/week.

* LUGGAGE STORAGE ($15/bag, $75/minimum if Manhattan). It costs this much because we have to hire a taxi and have people move your luggage. If your flight departs after the 11am checkout time, just leave your bags in the apartment with the keys, locking the door behind you. Our staff will transport your luggage back to a secure location at our office, which you can pick up on your way to the airport.

If you do not have the 5-bag minimum, you can drop the bags off yourself at our office for $10/bag. The reason we have to charge this is because there is limited space.

* EXTRA TOWELS: 2 towels are provided free of charge per bedroom. Additional are $5/each.

* EXTRA LINENS/BLANKETS/PILLOWS: 1 set is provided for each bed. An additional set can be provided free of charge for the couch/futon upon request. Anything over that will be an additional $25 per set.

* ADDITIONAL CLEANING: Your apartment is cleaned prior to your arrival and after you leave. If you would like a cleaning & towel change during your stay, they are available for $30-80 depending on the apartment you book.

* TOWEL CHANGE: is available for $5 per towel (minimum of 4 towels must be ordered)

* BABY CRIBS: $35 additional per night/ $100 per week

No super high maintenance people.
Internet is provided, but technical support costs extra if you don't know how to use it. If it really isn't working, you won't be charged for them to fix it.
