About this property

Located in the heart of the Kent countryside Oak cottage provides a beautiful and relaxing environment for a romantic break, a holiday with the kids or a business trip. It's open plan living room with quaint exposed brick and beams has a southerly aspect and looks out over the beautiful formal gardens at Landews. Where better to enjoy a Pimms and Lemonade or soak up the sun!.
Upstairs two well appointed bedrooms both have exposed oak beams. In the main bedroom the floor to ceiling panoramic window provides uninterrupted views across miles of woodland and the swimming lake. The second bedroom is accessed off the main bedroom and can be arranged as a twin or double. The wonderful open plan living on the ground floor comprises the lounge with two comfortable sofas on the solid wooden floor, opening to the feature gally dining area and the functional modern kitchen. To the west of the cottage you have stable type door giving access to a patio with beautiful scented Wisteria above (seasonal), on which to watch the sun go down.

Located in one of the most beautiful, unspoilt and peaceful areas of mid Kent, Oak cottage provides an ideal base for anyone visiting Kent or London. The fields, woodlands and wildlife of the Landews Meadow Estate provide the most beautiful location, with the benefit of your own swimming lake. From the cottage you can walk for miles in woodland carpeted with bluebells (in April and May), to enjoy the countryside, or just sit and enjoy the tranquility of the private gardens and lake.

Challock is centrally located between Ashford, Canterbury and Faversham and from this position in the heart of the county you are within easy reach of all of Kent's attractions. Leeds Castle is described as the loveliest castle in the world and it is hard to disagree on a sunny summers day, it also has lots for the kids to do, adventure playground, maze and falconry, Dover and Heaver Castles are also within easy reach for a day trip, Canterbury Cathedral or the charming Cinque port towns provide fresh sea air and fish markets, or you can visit any of the many clean sandy beaches around the coast. One of our favorite days out is a trip on the miniature steam railway the RH&D railway which runs a scheduled service from Hythe to Dungeness, being pulled across the romney marsh by a scale steam locomotive is a great experience for little kids (and big kids).

The village of Challock has two pubs, one serving excellent food, also the barn shop in the village provides fresh Kent produce 6 days a week. In the village of Challock and on your doorstep other activities include, horse riding, cycling, gliding (the gliders fly right over the cottages providing a fantastic view of Kent) and the Beech Court Gardens & Tea rooms. For a trip to London, Ashford International station is only 6 miles away and the high speed link will have you in to St Pancras in 38 minutes.

You could not wish for a more beautiful centrally located base to either put your feet up and enjoy the tranquility or visit all that the Garden of England has to offer.

On reviendra!

Excellent property, the setting is beautiful. The girls had a lovely time collect the eggs, my eldest Daughter even had one for breakfast this morning! The property is very well equipped and enough parking for both of our cars. Nigel & Wendy are lovely hosts and very helpful if you need anything. We will definitely be returning here next year hopefully in the Summer to see the beautifull surrounding, it looked good in the rain so in the sun should be great.
Your response
Sarah, thank you for your lovely review and comments. I hope the girls enjoy eating the eggs as much as they enjoyed collecting them. Would love to welcome you all back in the summer, as the gardens are lovely and we plan to have pigs in the woods and some miniature cattle on site by then. Nigel and Wendy

Fantastic communication from the offset and very accommodating upon check in time. Very friendly owner who was most helpful. An online PDF brochure sent to my email was brilliant to pre plan our days and dinner choices etc and a brocuhure in the cottage was v helpful. The cottage itself is in tip top condition and absolutely immaculate with the most amazing scenic views- even horses and chickens are about! I would thoroughly recommend the owner and the cottage and would like to thank Nigel again for a perfect stay made v easy. And a big thanks for the Leeds castle pass again. Rachael and Luke

Lovely cottage, we stayed here for three nights and we really enjoyed our stay. Very clean and tidy. Countryside location with beautiful surroundings. Owners very kind and helpful, communication was excellent from the beginning, providing us with lots of information: places to visit, supermarkets, restaurants... The only criticism would be that the wifi doesn't work properly, being off line most of the time. Overall, a great place to stay that we definitely recommend and the owners are the best we have come accross.
Your response
Pablo, thank you for your positive review about Oak cottage and good luck with the upcoming birth of your next child. Sorry that the router was playing up when you were here, I have had my IT person reset it again and it all seems to be working OK now and I hope this did not inconvenience you at all during your stay, Nigel and Wendy
